Ok, but what will happen to all the other bitmaps from the other dialer skin I have in the folder. Why don't I need all the other ones?

Will yours work properly or what is gonna happen?

It will overwrite them. You can change it back by re-copying the six original images back to your Windows folder. This is assuming that you have installed the ETEN dialer. There should be 42 other bitmaps that will remained unchanged. These I hope to skin soon.

Right. What I am trying to fully understand is about those 42 other images. Are they not specific to whatever dialer skin I have put on my phone? If I install your 6 to overwrite 6 of what I now have- what you are saying is that- my phone will display your skin and nothing of what I now have?

So then why wouldn't I just delete the 42 others??? This is what I am getting at- their function and need.

Oh and yes I have ETEN installed.

Thanks

The other images make up the call status page, landscape dialpad and call status, and the incoming call pop-up. You need these; do not delete them. Everything will look the same as you have it now except for the portrait dialpad as shown in the above screen dumps.

Perfect explanation. Thank you very much for your patience. I now understand.

So as you said- when you have time- you will be finishing the skin with all the other bitmaps?

One request would be to make the buttons a little more rounded. Oh and maybe adding some color to the numeric & text(numbers and letters, etc. on the dial pad). My suggestion is red and maybe a yellow one too.

You can even add a background like the snakeskin Kokkos uses in his rip off of the original.

So far it looks great though!

I made two versions; both are included in the attachment. I hope to skin the rest (call status, landscape, etc.) but I can’t say when it’ll be finished. This took me two days to make. I’m still learning my way around Photoshop.

Anyway, take it if you like it.

Wow.. Good work.. I have not yet downloaded this skin but I imagine it uses the system font so it will work with Smartdial? I'm going to have to take the font off my skins so it will function with the modded E-Ten dialer.. Nice...
Looks Good

OK.. I spent last night and today building the screens and converting all the button presses, only stopping for a few pints at my local watering hole last night. I have batched some colors and I think they are ready to send out. So.. here...

BlackGlass_Blue.zip
BlackGlass_Green.zip
BlackGlass_Grey.zip
BlackGlass_Lime.zip
BlackGlass_Orange.zip
BlackGlass_Red.zip

Like I said in the post above I hope to get the text off of these skins so they can be used with the Smartdial version of the Eten dialer. Let me know what you think... Enjoy

All I have to say is WOW!!! You did a great job. Question for you though: how is it that you are able to pop out skins so quickly? Do you have a template or what is your secret?

Thanks Pauly-

Well.. no template.. I have some tricks I use, but nothing real special. Once I have the screens all put together, I copy an old skin and all the bmps to a new folder and open all the old files into photoshop. Once I have all of them open I copy and line up an old skin over my new skin in PSD format, bring an old button over, line it up with the old skin (where it belongs), I edit my new skin how I want it (depending on the button it will become), merge the new skin into one layer, select around the old button, invert the selection, hide the old button and skin, and then select my new merged skin, "copy" and paste to the old button bmp. Then I can just save that bmp and it is already named correctly. It is tedious and time consuming but it is the best solution I have found so far.

Pauly, Have you seen this thread lately: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=48325

It looks like you can leave your text on the skins and still have it work with smartdialer (but no landscape?). I don't care for the smartdialer (unless I could be able to QUICKLY toggle it on and off). Just wanted to let you know.

I second that!

But currently I am using pics I take with the phone as background images on my today screen. I also have Wisbar Advance 2 running so it looks very sharp with Windows Vista Lite Themed in.

I gave this a shot but E-Ten with Smartdial and "without system font" is not quite ready. I skinned the Smartdial dropmenu and added it to the BlackGlass skins above, but if you add them to the E-Ten dialer with smartdial, you'll notice something is not quite right. System font remains on status screen, there is a default button that pops up instead of my "down buttons" and when dialing numbers a default blue screen pops up behind them.. It looks like it is getting there but not just yet.

All these skins will still work with the normal E-ten dialer.

I have looked into skinning the default WM5 dialpad before but have not found any good resources to get me started. I guess skinning smartdialer is a start.. ??

Looks pretty cool Pauly!!! Keep us posted as you continue your skinning and upgrading.

Pauly, can you try other color's to replace the black with like the red with yellow instead of black, blue with perhaps light blue, etc. These are really great but kind of dark for my theme's (and perhaps others). Thanks again!
