You need to dial the numbers that correspond to the LETTERS of the contact, ex BILL = 2455, etc...

My contacts list is about 300 numbers long (not that I use half of them), and when I start "smart-dialing," even if the list has 20 possibilities, the list cuts off at the dial pad and I can continue dialing until I narrow it down. Are you saying that the list opens up past the keypad? If so it shouldn't do that at all. And MUCH faster than looking them up manually, half the time I press the wrong index bar on the top with my finger.

Not saying its perfect, sometimes it doesn't pick up a key press, but I can't even compare it to manual lookup. By the time I hit the 4th or 5th button I have what I need.

EX: I open the phone app w/green button and hit the #2. Over 70 possibilites (anything with an A,B, or C in it obviously). I can only see 5, the rest I have to scroll down to, and all 9 phone number buttons are clearly touchable. I hit 2 more buttons, 3 more, whatever, and the list is narrowed down dramatically, if not completely. I never have any of the issues you are all speaking of, perhaps we're talking about different things- mine was built-in to the VX, I know my Sprint phone didn't have it

I did do that - its not rocket science to copy all. Its just 2 bars that remain the old skin.

Is there any version of eten which keeps the Smartdialer ?

I use it 'all the time'. I ahve close to 600 contacts, and my stock Sprint Smart dialer does the job everytime.

And I do love the big buttons of eten as well as the skinned incoming caller screen.

So, is there 'any' version of the eten which would work with Smart dialer ?

Hey there... Thanks emailmyers for linking me to this thread.. E-Ten with Smartdial? I looked at the pics and stared thinking about skinning the smartdial menu, but maybe I'll wait until it looks a bit more stable. I also noticed the dialpad is misaligned a bit at the top on the screenshots you've posted. I'm on cingular and I don’t get my carrier logo or the icons after the e-ten dialer is installed. I'm going away this weekend but when I get back I'll address that. It looks like I would just need to drop down that tab a bit to make more room at the top. If anyone wants any other colors just let me know. The grey skin was a request I just did last week. Glad to see you are all enjoying them..

Welcome Jakaroe808! Good to see you here. I took the liberty of modifying your grey dialer. Maybe you can use that to make the other colors for the 6700. Thanks for your nice work.

Am I the only one with checkered skins mode? Weak.
I reinstalled the cab and now I am back to the default blue but I want another color. I'll try one more time.

Sybarite, if you make changes to jakaroe808's skins, can you post them in this thread?
Thanks. Btw, your changes are an improvement, except i liked the glass look of the original and the larger beveled arrow. I think jakaroe808 is working on some changes too.

Keep the mods coming.

Not that I really care but this is the "new" thread... This thread predates this one and is the one I posted to also.

Here are my changes to the Orange mains...orange skin mods.zip

Is it possible we can agree to post only here?

EDIT:

BTW Which ones, if you are working on the existing ones, are you working one. I try and mod the others to match the orange but not until I get home and don't want to dup work.

polished GREY dialer

I have made a few changes to the GREY dialer skin to make it more polished.

I've also changed the bitmap depth to 16bit instead of 24bit, resulting in reduced filesize by about 35% with no difference in quality

It is attached

Excellent work, Ramborami. I was gonna do just that but you beat me to it.

Also, great idea about the bitmap depth. I shoulda thought of that.

And, including the whole package of bitmaps, instead of just the modded ones, does make it easier for those who haven't installed it yet.

Man, you're thorough.

So should I just copy it over to my Windows directory as I have before? I dont see how it will save me the 35% unless I uninstall the ETEN first. Is that what I am supposed to do first? If so when I uninstall it will it remove all the previous pics for the gray that I put in the Windows directory so that the 35% can indeed be saved?

Thanks

Groundn- It will- just copy and overwrite the existing .bmp's and you will be reducing the overall file sizes for existing dialer skin. The Eten program itself is a series of .dll's and installs over whatever whatever dialer you had before. It allows the "hotspots" of the .bmp's to be mapped as digits etc. Once installed though, changing skins (the .bmp's) has no effect on the E-Ten itself. That is my understanding of how it works. Refer to the first post on how to change skins too. Once you copy over the new files, don't forget to soft reset.

Nice work Rambo, looks real nice, the skins continues to evolve.

I didn't want to include the whole thing to make it a smaller download if you already have the rest. Obviously if you mod the whole thing (like reducing the res) then you need to include it all.

Does everyone want the whole thing, including the mods? Or just the mods? Or does anyone care?

So here you go... These are the modified dialpad screens only (removing the double top look).

Red Skin Mods.zip
Lime Skin Mods.zip
LightBlue Skin Mods.zip
DeepBlue Skin Mods.zip

Unfortunately I recently fried my computer so I'm using my old backup and I can't seem to find my PSP 9 disk... Anyway I can't reduce the color res on the glyphs which is why I only included the mods.

sybarite or Ramborami, if you want to do it, be my guest.

Enjoy.

EDIT: Minor description change...

Boy this is sad... Friday night and I'm doing this...

Well I found my PSP 8 disk (still can't find my PSP 9 disk) and reduced the files to 8 bit color (can't do 16). That's a savings of better then 1.25MB over the original! Looks okay to me. Tell me what you think...

ETenDeepBlueMod.zip
