I have same exact problem... with Vista_clear_Orange skin..
I have Soft-Reset and even used VJPhone Toggle... I cannot replace the following files:
clg_in.gif
clg_miss.gif
clg_out.gif
spd_lst.gif
(Rest all of the files copied/replaced fine)
Pauly- Any help? Thanks.

Used VJPhone toggle. Attributes for icons (yours, mine, Eten) all have archive checked. After I try to drop the new spd_lst.gif into windows to swap with the Eten spd_lst.gif, it won’t swap and the Eten spd_lst.gif disappears, and only the blue default one is on the dialer. When you look in Windows on the ppc, there is NO spd_lst.gif. It only shows up in Windows when you explore on the PC through Active Sync. And it’s the blue default. That one’s attributes have Read Only, Hidden, and System checked. I can’t find a way to change them, so I guess I can’t have any decent buttons for speed dial and call history. I thought it would be simple like swapping out all the bitmaps for the dialer.
Any more suggestions? Or am I stuck with the Eten ones or the default ones?
Just wish it was as bright as the original Orange dialer
I know.. I tried to saturate it as much as I could without making it bleed all over itself. I may be able to tweak it a bit more to help make it pop.. I'll let you know.

You have to uncheck all three (Read Only, Hidden, and System). Okay actually I'm not sure about the System, but probably that one as well. I don't know what you are using to view the files on your PPC, but you can use Total Commander/CE (www.ghisler.com) will allow you to see the files and change the attributes. The software is available on all the popular freeware sites as well.

I was just using File Explorer. Got Total Commander/CE and installed it. Could see the spd_lst file (that's the only one I've been trying lately) and tried changing the attributes - checked Archive, unchecked Read Only, Hidden and System. There's one that says "in Rom" that's checked and won't uncheck.
On the Last modified date side, I checked Change, Now, goes to today's date and time. Something at the bottom has Recurse subdirs, which I have both checked and left unchecked.
Hit Okay. Did soft reset even.
Every time I go back to check, it STILL has Read Only, Hidden and System checked!!!!!!!!!
Think I'm going to quit trying for a while.
Just wish I knew how you got yours to work.
But thanks for the help.

edited to add this:
Like a kid with a new toy, I was playing around with Total Commander and saw that you could Copy / Move a file, so I tried to copy the spd_lst to Windows, and...................IT WORKED!!!! Guess I can try to do the other buttons now.
Thank you, poqeteer! I really am tired of the ETen buttons.

Thanks to poqeteer and his post about Total Commander, I finally got it to work. I didn't need to change the attributes for the original .gifs, but I did need to use Total Commander to copy the files into Windows. I tried again with File Explorer and it still wouldn't allow it.
Can't remember who else to thank, but with VJPhoneToggle and Total Commander, I can change themes and matching phone dialer skins whenever I feel like a change.
Jakaroe808 - I moved back to VISTA_CLEAR one for now.. Waiting for muich brighter release of Orange. It was too dark for me .. Glad there are 2 skins (vista_clear & orange_classic) i still love and could roll back to
hey all i was wondering if u could help....I loaded poqeteers skins (moontree) very cool BTW and tried to go back to pauly a vista glass and im getting a cannot spd_list acesss is denied error make sure your phone has sufficient memory, its not a readonly file, and you have access to this file. i have never received this error message before and now im stumped. the skins SEEM to still load correctly but with the error message now who knows. Its appears to be an arrow gif file.. any help??
ok so i am only getting this error message when i try and load vista glass.. is this because i dont have the smart dialer? when i load the older eten skins the files dont exist and it loads no prob. any insight?

I only had the problem with the gifs (bmps were never a problem) - same message. Seem to have solved the problem by copying them to Windows with Total Commander. I have all bmps and gifs on SD card and just copy all the needed ones to Windows.
k all, what happens if i copy every file but the four gifs? will i be able to use the dialer normally? cuz, i did it anyway and it seems to work ok ....so far.
Love the Eten Dialer, keep up the great work! Hey Pauly and vinscuzzy, any chance of doing a Vista_Silver or even a Silver Glass Eten? It would still retain the Vista look but would use Black Text/Numbers. I am a former kokkos user, the silver theme he had was awesome to use in outdoors/bright light and functioned well in regular situations. It's just a suggestion, but after seeing the Vista_Black, it got me thinking .... Thanks in advance!!
I was just looking at the Vista Trans Black Theme. If you changed the grass backgound to a light. light silver, or whitish hue and got rid of the grass and made it solid, with black text. Might be very popular.

I second that and to take it a step futher instead of the grass put a BLACK FLAME image behind the transparant buttons. That would be hot and go along with almost any today screen because of the color scheme.
