A2DP on 6700 w/ AKU2/MSFP updated ROM ONLY - READ 1st POST BEFORE POSTING
So I can see this thread is about to really take off and since I do not want another repeat of the ROM upgrade thread (I don't want people to have to sift through a bunch of pointless messages to find the useful information), please keep the following in mind before posting to this thread:
1. Please refrain from making posts like "this rocks!!!" or "working great for me!!!" or "thank you so much!!!" - they will just clutter up the thread.
2. If you have a basic question like "what is A2DP?" or an off-topic question like "what bluetooth headset/headphones are you using?" please do not ask it in this thread. Instead, use this sites search engine or google to get your basic questions answered and if you really want to know what A2DP headphones someone is using, PM them. This thread has a dedicated subject and you need to avoid asking questions that can potentially take it off-topic. I will most likely delete questions like these without notice.
3. Read the entire thread before asking any potential question you may have. If your question has already been answered (example: "Does this work with the Verizon 6700?") , I may delete it in which case that is your cue to go back and read the thread but I will more than likely just respond to you in the thread and ask you to read it from the beginning.
4. Be sure to vote in the poll to let others know your experience with this A2DP implementation.
How is the performance when streaming music over a2dp? I have read that the wizards 200mhz OMAP Processor is so taxed that the system slow considerably, how much better is the 400mhz xscale in our apaches?
I know id like to be able to stream audio while reading web pages, using email etc...
Is the unit able to send the audio from a movie (played in TCPMP) over the headset without skipping?
With the MSI, quality was outstanding! CD level quality.
BUT, with the new A2DP cab I get stereo to work, but quality is so-so. Very nasal. So, I am left wondering...I do not think it is a hardware issue, because they play outstanding using the MSI software. I also do not think it is a software problem because I have seen that other PPC6700 users are having good success using the cab.
I can't get it to work. I tried two headsets and it pairs OK and I select Wireless Stereo in the checkbox. But I can't get any audio to transfer over the headset, WMP just plays out of the built in speaker. I various combos of headset buttons, but it will not connect. Widcomm had a nice feature where you just tapped and held the stylus over the device and a popup gave you a "connect" option. No such convenience with the MS BT stack on my Sprint 6700.
hmm - does this only work with the new rom update installed? i have the iphono mini stereo headset and while i can check wireless stereo after choosing edit...when i save it and return to the screen, it does not offer me an option to "set as wireless stereo," just "set as hands-free."
i copied over the 3 .dll's, installed the .cab to the device and then tried...no go. soft reset, same thing.
if i need to upgrade to the new rom this will get me to do it for sure...
thanks,
-jeff

PPC 6700 is now my TV remote control and favorite paperweight lol
So I guess we should say this is only for the CDMA PPC6700 at this time. The verizon is excluded until the update comes out. From what I read AKU 2.0 is required or higher.
You should have really updated your Sprint PPC 6700.
Why you ask?
Cause its like having a new phone.
Reminds me of getting your car a well deserved tune up ala Microsoft Style.
It does work now, but just running the Tornado_A2DP.cab file isn't enough. After that you have to run the Tor_A2DP_cert.cab file that's also in the download. Without it, the menu option to select wireless stereo does not appear when you press and hold the device.
All sound should be routed as it is through the analog headset jack.
the controls however are a differnt story.
They work in windows media player 10 and i think pocket music or pocket player. I cant remember.
When TCPMP converts back to betaplayer I think there will be some support in that version. The developers for TCMP are going through major restructure of their distribution model with dual licensing.
Once they got it all figured out you will see a free version and a pay version of Betaplayer/TCPMP
You people rock so hard! I set this up while laying in bed tonight (and am listening to my HT820s right now without waking up my wife, right next to me). I can't believe you (the XDA folks?) got it working!!! I am truly amazed by the ingenuity of the people on this and other WM-related lists. Thanks so much for your persistence and dedication...if only the average guy could be as influential in politics as you've been for my musical entertainment
Probably the only negative I noticed is that the forward and back buttons on my headset only work with Windows Media Player and not Conduits PocketPlayer...but that's minor....very very minor, and making these headphones work is sooooo major.
will it work on a vz6700 if its been upgraded with the sprint rom? hmmm...i think i shall try it out. that is if the sprint rrom has been sufficiently ported over...lemme just cruise on over to that thread...
edit:
darn...i guess i shoulda checked that thread before posting this comment...just got back from there, and from my quick perusal, it looks like no one had any luck with updating vz6700 with sprints rom..if you have accomplished this, pm me, or post a reply or something, as i am anxious to test this with my ht820.

On a regular headset like the h700 or hs850 does stereo make a difference like is it worth doing if you are only listening to music thru the audio gateway.
TCPMP works very well, very good stereo support for movies ripped to WMV. Movies in WMP also sound good, no noticible issues. Music in WMP is mixed. The first 30 seconds are breakup city over the bluetooth, then it stablizes and sounds good. Hit the next song, and again, 30 seconds of breakup, followed by stability. I seem to remember an issue where MP3's off a minisd card had problems in the first 30 seconds, but I thought that was solved with AKU 2.0.
I do have wifi in the house, so maybe there is some effect from that. Also, the speed of the minisd card as well as the MP3's encoded bitrate (all 128k) could all affect it.
