I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but this problem, just like the BSOD problem, is not going to be solved by a magic regsitry key. It can only be fixed in code by Microsoft (I heard there is a power issue to the SD slot during playback). Which means it probably will never be fixed. At least not until Windows Mobile 2007. Maybe.
On a universal or any other hacked device with a2dp you need to go into the registry and add this dword string into the following location. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\BtA2dpSnd
Make a new Dword value and name is Priority256 and then for the DWORD Data value make that 60 save and reboot. Presto no more lag, cuts or audio drop outs. I have attached the modified registry key for ease. To manually mod it the registry location is at the following.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\BtA2dpSnd
Update: If you run wisbar advanced you need to manually launch it. If you have it start up at boot it will cause lagging issues as well. So just disable wisbar advanced from startup and you are cookin.
It works with movies and streaming no problem. And it works with MP3 files if they are in main memory. MP3 files on a memory card seems to be the only thing that doesn't work. And of course, that's 99% of what people want to do, so it figures.
Maybe encoding music to less than the standard 128k (for example, 96k) may work better. But other than that, well, as I said above, code fix.
I am using a red logo 6700 w/updated rom and a moto ht820 headset and I am getting very little studdring (one skip every 2 songs) with MP3s off the storage card and NO skipping w/minixm over 1X. Wifi causes serious skipping, but other than that I AM IN HEAVEN! Here is what I have found after 3 days of constant playing.
I can hit the MF button at any time to activate VC after doing the hack to use VC instead of the builtin voice dialer. With the phone in my pocket I can use VC to start a playlist, hit the MF button again, the headset lets go and A2DP takes over. The music plays in beautiful stereo sound.
While music is playing I can even hit the MF button to change playlists i.e. "play blink 182." Hit the MF button again to let go of the heaset profile and the music will play.
I cannot hear the VC chirp so I just wait 2-3 seconds after hitting the MF button before speaking the command.
A couple of times after hanging up a call with the MF button, or after speaking a command, I've had to reconnect the headphone profile by hitting the play/pause on the headphones. It has always connected right up.
It is not perfect yet, so I can see why it was not released, but I am able to work around the shortcomings and it is the greatest thing I have added to my phone!

I hope everyone can join me in bluetooth heven!

I also have the old red logo phone but with the new rom update. I tried putting an mp3 file on the memory and not on my sd card and still no luck. I can not hear at least 5 sec of music with out studdering.
I wonder if it could be a difference in headsets? I know a couple of others with the HT820 (which is what I am using) are having sucess. What headset are you guys having problems using? Maybe someone should start a new poll to see if that is the problem...
SpineDoc said he tried MortPlayer with MP3's off storage card and got good results. Just for giggles, I tried it and it actually does work well. As ppclover said, one skip every two songs. Plus. MortPlayer is actually a nice little app. WMP and TCPMP for playing songs - not so good. Though both work fine with movies.
I was wondering if i should do a hard reset and try to install all patches again and take it from there. I tried everything and i still can not get this to work properly. What should i do guys?
So, can anyone backup their sprint AKU2 registry and post it here? I want to see what's different between that and the XV6700 registry... I feel like there is just one key that has the "Set as wireless stereo" option from the pulldown menu that the xv6700 doesn't produce with this hack... Can anyone do that? Thanks,
-Taylor

A2DP with Motorola HT-820 working (but WMP 10 still sucks)
I am working with the Motorola HT-820 with A2DP. WMP 10 while playing MP3s is horrible and skips a ton. I downloaded Conduit's PocketPlayer 2.72 and it seems to work great as far as sound goes. I havn't tested the controls on the Motorola HT-820 to see if those buttons work with PocketPlayer but reading the posts on here I bet it doesn't. Resco Pocket Radio version 1.50 also works well via bluetooth. When I try and use TCPMP version 0.72RC1, the sound comes through the speaker on the phone itself and doesn't route the sound to the headphones for some reason. I still get sound to the headphones with other players. Also I tried SlingPlayer Mobile 1.0 which was just released this week and it works GREAT with that. Watching cable television and listening to it in stereo via the Motorola HT-820 is amazing!
So far I am happy with the results. I bought the HT-820 yesterday just after I read the posts here that people are pretty much happy with that using A2DP on the PPC 6700. Even though WMP 10 seems pretty worthless with it, I am pretty happy with the other players available..except TCPMP at the moment.
I am about to do the regestry change to try and make Microsoft's Voice Command 1.5 come up when I hit the button on the headset and see how that works.
Eventually someone should make a list of all the applications that they got to work with this new A2DP patch.
I know many are having trouble with Windows Media Player but as long as I have WIFI off it works PERFECTLY for me. WMP is the only player I use now because of the fact that the controls on my HT820 work with it. The remote control feature is about the most important feature for me because I like to skip around my playlists so much. That, and calling up playlists with VC make me think that ipods are incredibly lame!
I've not done anything special, so I'm not sure why it works so well for me???
My WMP10 and HT-820 work together fine. I dont have any of this skipping nonsense when reading for the SD card. I will try streaming over ORB real quick.
Hmmm. Well I don't use WI-FI on my PPC6700 at all (its turned off) but I do use Microsoft exchange direct push email over EVDO and wonder if that effects WMP10 and makes it skip. I will have to try WMP10 with my push email icon off in the comm manager and see if that makes any difference. I really would like to use Voice Command with WMP10 to call up playlists and control it via buttons on my HT-820 just like you guys do.
out of TCPMP, GSPlayer and WMP, only WMP skips badly...but it's only for the first 10 seconds or so.
unfortunately, however, i haven't gotten the avrcp controls to work in WMP though...i hear it works with my headset but is there some setting i need to enable? i'm following the instruction manual as per how to stop, play/pause, next, previous with my headset but WMP just seems to ignore/not hear it...
any tips?
thanks,
-jeff

Dave, I always have push enabled so I don't think that's it. Could you be running out of memory? I've noticed that when I'm playing MP3s my available program memory sometimes briefly drops from 20+mb to 5 or less. If you have less mem. available it could be maxing out causing the skipping.
Streaming over EVDO is fine. Over wifi is another story. I doubt it has anything to do with the 2.4Ghz range. I think it is more the system can't handle both task and that the radios are on the same chip. Bluetooth and wifi being together is fairly common I hear.
One thing that this stuttering in WMP that has been positive is that I switched to Mortplayer and realized how much better it is than WMP, wow I am very impressed. It looks very plain at first glance, which is why I never gave it a second glance, but it is very powerful for a free player.
I had tremendous skipping with the Anycom BSH100's on my yellow logo 6700 - play a second, skip 5. I tried all the listed registry tweeks, overclocking, and different players all with no improvement. Even reloaded the new rom. Phone functions worked fine, just no music.
Picked up a HT820 at an outrageous price but where I could return it easily and it worked like a charrm with WMP, full control functionality and no more than one or two skips ever which may just have been simple radio interference.
I plan to return both sets and repurchase the H7820 at a resonable price. It fit nicer for me, sounded great and the phone features worked equally well as the Anycom's so I figured I would stick with them.
In post 23 simz states that he had resolved his problems with his Anycom. He didn't mention the model # but I think they only make one stereo headphone set. So I'll presume I had a defective headset, not that it isn't compatible.
Could it be that the manufacturers haven't perfected their quality control on these relatively new products yet and in their dash to hit the market they (we) are dealing with a high failure rate???
Has anyone else who has had skipping problems tried pairing with a different headset?
I just took off the little ear pads from the ht 820, wow, i don't look like princess leai anymore and now it is actually comfortable on me now, with it the back of my ear would hurt when I wore then. I have used this headphone to replace the wired headset of my ppc 6700 and for my pc, I got a bluetooth 2 widcomm dongle, and I am able to get wireless stereo for movies and games on my pc! plus the controls work in alot of apps on the pc as well like zoomplayer and winamp.
I'ma email the mortplayer guy and the tcmp guys to add avrcp controls to their players, windows media player has the worst most incomprehensible playist manager on earth (and that goes for its PC brother as well)
But yeah, flawless sound in stereo and as a headset on my ppc 6700, plus taking out those earpads makes the headphone look much slimmer when worn
