Centauress, what is the '02 plus' patch? As stated above, this patch will give quick access to the BT settings? Is this patch only available for the Spring PPC6700?
The "patch" will work on any 6700. Please place any further questions about the O2 plus patch in the following thread (this current thread is for the A2DP hack only) :
This thread is for discussion about the A2DP hack in general, not on issues you are having with specific BT headsets. If you are looking for your post, it can be found in the 'Best A2DP headset' thread. Also, please do not crosspost the same questions in the two threads. Please limit yourself to posting your question in the single, most appropriate thread. Thanks!
Will the A2DP hack affect ROM? Best to do it after a hard Reset?
I've searched reasonably and understand that a hard reset will set the phone back to factory settings (unless you've done a hack that messes with the ROM itself, such as the UTStarcom ROM update that I've already done - which is why when I hard reset it will still include those changes and I won't need to run that update again if I'm not mistaken).
I would like to know because I haven't found it mentioned - are there any hacks that we need to be afraid of doing (such as the A2DP zipped hacks included in this forum) that will alter the ROM?
Also - I'm considering doing the hard reset to remove the junk and left-over build up after removing some programs. Would it be better/safer to try the A2DP hack before doing the hard reset or reset first, clean the system, and then the hack?
Trying to see if Jabra bt620s will work with the hack.
I'm not aware of any permanent changes the A2DP hack makes to the ROM, or any harmful side effects. I've been running the A2DP hack now for several months and my phone is a stable platform. That being said, as long as you're going to do a hard reset anyway, why not install the hack first, see if you like it, and do you're reset, and then reinstall the hack if you liked it, and not if you didn't.
That was my thinking as well and probably what I'll do, some of my straggling programs have somewhat affected its speed & functioning though so even if I try it and it doesn't work I'll probably do the reset and try it again anyhow.
It would be helpful to know if most of the peole who took the success/problems A2DP poll had done it on a clean system or one that was program filled; and if the ones who had problems did it differently (and possibly incorrectly) than those that didn't.
Good to know that yours has been working, every success story makes me a little more anxious to try it.
There are two A2DP upgrades at the beginning of this thread:
Post #2 by eyeballz includes one which is 85.2 KB.
Post #10 by manmz includes one which is 81.8 KB.
Because they're different sizes I assume they were created differently - I'm curious to know of which has had more success/problems, or if they're the same as far as reliability is one easier than the other?
The first is nearly identical in size to one I found at this site (85.1 KB):
this one has to do with some tornado program or phone and was developed by the guys at xda-developers.com (which site makes me feel much stupider than this site, thanks). I think it's the same that eyeballz put in his post.
I'm about ready to do the hack and it looks like the second will be easier but is there a reliability or sound quality difference between the two that anyone knows of?

Use the first (larger file) which has both the cab files you need. From previous post of mine a page ago:
You've got it correct in your first sentence - I did this a couple of weeks ago on my Verizon XV6700. To summarize:
Open Bluetooth Settings and establish pairing - (make sure you first delete any instances already there for your stereo headphones)
Select Finish/OK until you are back at the list of all Bluetooth paired devices. Press and hold on the Bluetooth Stereo headphone and select 'Stereo'
Turn off your WiFi radio if it is on.
Select a music player and you should be listening in Stereo - startup of WMP will likely be choppy or silent for the first 15-30 seconds of the first song. Pocket Player works better, but both will occasionaly skip.
You might want to search for and install the Bluetooth Toggle app that keeps the headset in Audio Gateway mode vs Headset mode so that if you answer a call, the Audio Gateway should stay open.
Ok Im with u guys on the instructions posted until this point: installed the .cab to the device. What file are you suppose to install exactly? The 3 .dlls are copied over, do you install or copy over the .cab file do you try and run the just the _setup file? Thanks

Read my post number 246...Just install the two cab files in the order listed, soft reset and your done.
Ok I admit to being a newbie to smart phones, but I do have a basic amount of knowlegdge with PC's, however I am somewhat clueless here... Below a member posted this as a help for getting a BT Stero Headset to work with my PPC-6700, I am fine with the copy over the .dll's Im not fine with Install Tornado_A2DP.cab I will explain my confusion, 1) The file is downloaded as winrar file, I unzipped this file to discover these files: 5 files 1)YouRap 2)00CAB7D0.003 3) 00CAB7CF.002 4)00CAB7CE.001 5)_setup.xml. Should I not have done this, should I have moved the cab file over to the phone and then run it from there? If so the windows directory?
PRIOR HELP POST:
i will make it easy on you guys, just download the attached zip file
1. Extract the attached *.zip file. Find this files Avrcp_MPplugin.dll, bta2dp.dll and sbc.dll. Copy these three files to \Windows thru ActiveSync
2. Install Tornado_A2DP.cab
then go to your bluetooth settings and select Wireless Stereo

Yes. This is how you install ALL .cab files. The directory you run it from is unimportant. When prompted, you will want to install this program to main memory.
Ok thanks for the tip, and It did run the cab file flawless by just moving it over directly, however after I installed the cab file, I cleared my BT headset as a partneship, and then performed a soft reset as the instructions prescribe. I reperformed a new partnership and still no dice.
I had very limited success getting this to work on my xv6700 (see my previous posts). It would work for a while, but then stop working. I eventually gave up (besides the 'phones can get hot in DC in July).
I believe in my last post I was pretty sure it had to do with the quality of the BT radio in your phone. Well, I just got a replacement phone (ironically enough, the speaker on my old phone went out) and it works without very much hassle at all.
Installed Tornado cab followed by the cert cab.
Reset
Paired 'phones
didn't work (stutters)
reset
didn't even repair the phones, just "Set as Wireless Stereo"
and bang, works fine
(although I have the same "wait 30 seconds of silence" problem everyone else who gets it working has. I'm sure it's a buffering thing, and is probably dependant on how your headphones work).
Anyway, if you just can't get this working, come up with some reason to return your phone. Eventually you'll get a phone that works.

Hey c'mon guys, no really, it didn't!
I swear!!
Speaking of Ironic - my replacement phone arrives today. Exact same thing - speaker went dead. I am convinced after the initial 'lo volume' issue, and now speakers getting fried, they used some really cheap speakers in these phones.
I followed the instruction to the letter, and it’s works great, after I installed all the files, I did a soft reset, opened up the Bluetooth programs, paired the device, and hit refresh, hands free ,headset , and wireless stereo all came up with no problems, I have XM radio, and it’s crystal clear….this is to sweet….Thanks......
I downloaded the zip file and extracted the 3 dll's and copied them to the 6700 windows directory, installed the cab and the cert, did the soft reset. I then clicked the stereo box and soft reset. It's not working. I have the Jenson bluetooth kit.
Do I still have to do those registry changes?
Also in the file I unzipped with the three dll files I noticed there was another file there. I think it was a registry file. Does anything need to be done with that?
Thanks in advance,
Glenn
I just updated my rom and installed a2dp and everytime I try to connect with my bt620s the Voice Speed Dial program opens up and then I get disconnected. How can I fix this so microsoft voice command opens up and I stay connected. This didn't happen when I had a2dp installed on the old rom.

Install the BT Toggle cab that you can search and find on this forum - allows you to switch between Audio Gateway and Voice Speed Dial.
You didn't have A2DP with the old rom, it requires the new rom to work.
Just installed the A2DP hack, and it's working pretty great. I have only one question -- the only way I can get the stereo sound to route to my headphones is by starting with Windows Media Player. Then I hit the button on my headset and I have stereo stound. THEN I can go into another application (TCPMP, Slingplayer) and it streams that audio as well. HOWEVER, if I want to start in one of the other applications, it will NOT stream the audio. I have to go to WMP first. What is the reason for this, and is there any way to fix it?
