Please keep comments in this thread limited to the A2DP hack. Please refrain from discussing unrelated problems you are having with the Verizon ROM such as it bricking your phone and/or any solutions/troubelshooting to fix it. This thread is strictly for discussion of the A2DP hack, nothing else. Thanks!
I went out and bought the HT820 headphones today thinking that A2DP was included with the VZW ROM upgrade. I was disappointed to find it wasn't. Then I found this thread.
Lets just say today has been a rollercoaster of emotions ending on a very good note. These headphones rock for both MP3s and phone calls mush better than the one ear bluetooth headsets.
Thank You so much for all your guys hard work.

Ain't it just? The fix makes owning the 6700 worth it...

Well for the last 3 nights I have been trying to get this to work on my PPC6700, with very little luck. It worked for about 30 minutes last night. But normally it's one second of sound then nothing. I have tried every hack, three different players, hard reset, changing the sequence of intallation. I have the Bluesonic HS-H989 clip found on eBay. I really wish my Siedio adaptor w/ mic didn't die.
Having already decided to skip work today, i reset the rom on my phone, and reinstalled with the hack in the correct order:
Copied the dll files into the \windows
ran the cert cab
ran the Toronado cab
soft reset
paired the device with A2DP and hands free
same stutter problem.
I even tried the reg hack (which apparently hasn't worked for anyone on a 6700) Im beginning to think my headphones suck. does anyone else have this make/model?
oh, and ive tried using WMP and Mortplayer. both jitter.
any ideas?
EDIT----->
Forget to mention, wifi is not on (i even tried turning off the phone portion) and i drove around in my car, trying to escape the clutches of the evil 2.4 noise. no go.
+1 on the "ioGear sucks" tip. I got the same kit (GBMHKIT, which is the GBMH201 and the GBMA201 dongle). I'm using a recently-modded xv6700, and it works fine with their dongle, but is so choppy it's nauseating when played direct from the phone. Oh, and it won't even pair as a plain'ol headset, even when I uncheck the wireless stereo option.
Here's (a partial list) what I've tried:
Wifi off
Phone radio off
Low bit-rate mp3 (96kbps podcast)
switching the order of installing the cert and cab files.
Copying files to phone memory
Mortplayer (with lowbit and in-memory files)
TCPMP (with lowbit and in-memory files)
PHM to overclock to 520Mhz
Freeing up memory (WMP goes way down, but Mort & TCPMP don't seem so bad. Still 15MB program memory free)
Letting files play past 30-40 seconds (this is painful)
Priority256 Reghack (at 60 as recommended, "to the ceiling" at 1 then "to the floor" at 255).
Pretty much everything short of a hard-reset. Which I would try tonight, but a) I am recently married, and am keeping that "honeymoon" feeling around as long as possible, and swearing & throwing things is detrimental to that mood.
b) I have a pair of Jabra 620s coming in the mail tomorrow.
Any other suggestions welcome, but otherwise take this as a warning off the ioGear products. I'm guessing the problem is per the manuf. website (above) it only supports the sub-band codec for transmission. A2DP allows transmission as any codec, but these bastards are requiring the phone to decompress the mp3, then recompress the stream as SBC. Makes sense, as an engineering thing, since otherwise the headphones have to have an MP3 decoder chip. But it doesn't work with A2DP for the XV6700 as of today.

Reason: Added title, added a test (that failed)
edit: see post below, I got it going, just leaving this here for posterity. For those wandering in the wilderness, this is what awaits you. But it does work. And it's worth it.
Well, the Jabras (620s) don't work either, even after a hard reset, so I give up. Maybe it's just a 'lottery' thing. Some people's xv6700s work, some don't. Guess that's why it's not an official feature, since if they can't get it to fly everywhere, they can't offer it to anyone.
Any suggestions on the quickest way to get a warranty replacement from Verizon? PM me, or Marty will get irate.

Well, in the interest of completeness, I hereby recount the completly spastic way in which I got this working. I am in no way making a statement about what in this mess worked. Keep f'n with it, I guess.
Then I paired the Jabras without installing the bluetooth patches posted here. Set them as headset.
Made a phone call (worked great) (I told you, I'm documenting EVERYTHING I did in the hopes we can figure out what worked).
Installed the bluetooth patches (copy in dlls, install cert cab, install reg cab)
Soft-reset. Tried it. Didn't work (still stuttering).
Soft-reset again, and now, after about 2-3 seconds of drop-outs at the beginning of the track (not stuttering: it wasn't WMP skipping back in the track as it had been before 0:02 > 0:03 > 0:02 > 0:03 >0:04 > 0:03 > 0:05)
As I said, some of this may have nothing to do with it working: but it's working!
I tried the BT3100_Max_OEM_WWE_122_008_T2[1]sa.CAB. I got it to work on its own as a headset. But when I installed the dll and other CABs my bluetooth stopped working.
I have been suffering with the stuttering problem on my XV6700 with Moto HT820 headset. When it works - man this is livin'! But it works so rarely
I came across something interesting today while playing with A2DP. I installed MortPlayer (much better than WMP!). Skips reduced a bit, but not a lot. I then connected to power, and skips reduced a lot more. It's not perfect, but its better. When I go back to battery, skips come back much worse.
Can anyone confirm this as a potential power issue? If so, is there a way to increase the power consumption while on battery? I'm willing to give up some battery life to have no skipping and sweet music!
I currently have my Iphono BT450RX's working with WMP. I too am having a problem with stuttering in WMP. I also have another problem, or at least it seems that way. Once the headphones are paired and set as a stereo wireless device, I get stereo sound from WMP, with the usual stuttering. However, when I power the headphones off, and back on again, I have to go back into the Bluetooth connections on the XV6700 and set the headphones as wireless stereo headphones again before i get any sound at all. Is this normal? Or is this only a problem with my Iphono headphones?
Maybe the lag problem is related to the card. I have a 2gb sandisk ultra II and I haven't had any lag issues. Maybe I'm lucky but that was my first thought. the only problem I have is the avcrp/ buttons not working with my 590a's. If anybody can figure that problem out I'd be perfect. Oh and this is my first post at this site coming over from TC (thanks Hobbes!) and you guys rock! I love forums like this!
I have the 590a also, but none of the buttons work. I can turn the 590a volume and up and down fine. I can mute a call, etc. When my phone rings, it does activate the headphones and I can hear it rining... click answer on the phone and talk, listen, etc. But any adavance functions.. not much yet. (like play, pause, etc. in media player)
Finally did the AKU2 upgrade today, and did the A2DP hack along with it. First thing I'll say--the playback buttons only seem to work with WMP.
For those still having problems with Stereo Headset not showing up in the Bluetooth settings, try deleting the headset (if it already is in the list, tap and hold until the menu comes up) then add/pair it again. I had a problem with this, because I had added the headset before the AKU2 update, and it was still there after the upgrade (used Sprite Backup's upgrade mode to keep all old settings/progs. ) After doing the upgrade and the A2DP hack, the Stereo Headset option was there, but it was greyed out. Deleting and adding the headset got it working, and now all options are accessible!
Now that it is paired and configured properly, it works great with my Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970. Controls do not work with Pocket Player (hopefully there will be a patch/upgrade for this in the future?) I have not had any problems playing off my storage card, no skipping unless I am out of range.
On the Verizon XV6700, it seems the registry file is not necessary. It did not even work with my phone. All I did was copy the 3 dlls into Windows, ran the non-cert cab, then the cert cab, and reset. Champ!
I have a ppc-6700 and i am having an issue. I have installed th .cab file and have copied the files over, i even wiped the handheld and redid everything. I cant seem to get the PPC to set stereo headset. It sees the ht 820 but it wont let me set it as a stero headset i know the a2dp works because when i paired it up it says hands free, headset, and wireless stero. What can i do i know i am running the updated version of the rom 2.06.00 wwe. I have checked the registry to make sure everything is right and it appears to be. anyone who had this problem and fixed it please help or anyone that has knowledege i dont know what else to do.
Somehow when I updated my 6700, my MMS messaging account disappeared and I cannot restore it. I can no longer send MMS Messages. This sucks, since many pepople that I correspond with on the VZW network do have MMS capability, but don't have phones that can receive pics as attachments to e-mail. What the heck happened???
iamwhoiam, what they are referring to--if you downloaded the file from the first post in this thread, there are two .cab files, one ending in _cert, and the other does not. (One of them is inside the second zip file within the posted archive.) You must install both of these in order for the hack to work. Also I think you will need to soft reset. If your headset is already in the list, try deleting it and re-pairing. If all goes right, it should work.
Oh, and I can confirm that manually copying the .dlll files is unnecessary, just run the two cab files. I did another hard reset this weekend to clear up some problems, and this time only ran the two cabs. Still works.
