cant get 6700 to vibrate or ring w/text messages - how to assign custom notification?

Im a totally noob when it comes to this phone but its a great buy, thanks to the V710 case settlement. To make a long story short, I cannot get my phone to virbrate or ring or do anything with text messages. Also, i want to assign a custom ringer for the text message and I cannot even do that. Am I missing something here?

welcome, the short answer is do a search, this question has been answered before.

Long answer is you need to copy the wav files (wav only) that you want to use for your system notifications/sounds into the windows folder on you PPC. Then go to start, settings, sounds and notifications. On the notifications tab, you can choose the event you want to change the sound for. Your new wav files should be on the list.

Again, searching for this should have been easy. Please do this in the future.

or....

are you saying that your texts dont do anything?
no sound, no vib, no blinking light?

that seems wrong...

2 things to check...
tap the volume icon by the clock on the top right of the screen...
the left slider is for system volume, and the right is for phone-only ringer volume... is your left slider all the way down?

to set sounds and notifications, go to:
start | settings | sound & notifications | notifications tab
then select the 'event' you would like to configure, and configure away...

good luck and welcome...

mike

You need to get the music file that you want to use converted into a .WAV file, .mp3 doesnt work for this part, and just put it into the Windows folder on you phone, it will be in the drop down box after that and you can use it for text message ringtone or whatever
