The only software required is active sync. You may want to utilize tcpmp as your player for the divx file as im not sure whether or not the default media player will be able to play it.

MS ActiveSync generally sucks a$$ when I try to use it with my ppc-6700. it only works sometimes after rebooting my desktop PC and/or soft-reset of the device.

To get large files onto your device, the best thing to do is to get a Storage Card (mini SD) for your ppc and then use an external card reader (connected to your desktop pc) to copy files onto the storage card.
