I have a Cingular 8125 but sold my stereo BT headphones when I sold my Ipaq 6515 so I can't test this, but I did download it and stash it away for future use.
Over at XDA-Dev they've been toying around with some third party application that was able to stream stereo BT to stereo headphones, but it was time delayed and would quit after 30 seconds. Well I think somebody hacked around the time limit and posted it over there. If I had the headphones I'd give it a whirl.
Stereo over BT from the 6700. Very cool. It does not seem to do anything with the Microsoft Bluetooth stack, which is probably good. This has its own player with, unfortunately, very tiny buttons. I'm not complaining.
I am using Sonorix-branded headphones. I'm getting a tiny bit of skipping but that may be my Sandisk 2 Gig card or the headphones. I had one BSOD during the first song after 3 minutes of playback, but after that it has worked. There may be a few flaky things but, again, I think its the mini-SD and my power settings. When the 6700 goes to sleep, the player seems to die. I'll continue to test.
AVRCP (or whatever the acronym is) does not seem to work. I am not able to remote control the player from the headset.
Phone calls do interrupt the music and the music will resume when the call is done.
You must scan for the headset in the program itself. Use the "Option" command. When the headset is found, make sure you actually select it before leaving the screen to go back to the player.
Thanks for the tip bostonGuy! Coincidentally, I just bought another device with the Blueplayer software (from i.Tech) that hasn't arrived yet, so I suppose I'm legal since they have my money.
more info dude, does this work only with the player and if so does it mean sound only comes through when the player is playing something or while the player is on is all sound routed to your stereo? Details dude we need details!
The hack is posted at xda-dev. You have to create a login to see the downloads. Grab the MSI file from the link at xda-dev as well. Don't worry about placing the hacked file in the "installer", as instructed, just put it into the MSI program directory after you have run the MSI CAB on the 6700.
I did a soft reset after installing, started the app from the programs screen, hit "option", "refresh", found my headset, selected it, hit "ok". To find your music, select the folder icon in the player, navigate to the folder containing your music, hit "ok" (bottom corner of the window this time???), your music will show in a list in the player, hit the microscopic play button, you should have music. You may have to deselect the autoshutdown in your power settings' advanced tab. The player does not seem to keep the 6700 alive with powersaving turned on.
does it only work while the player is on i.e. can it only be used for mp3s? what about other stuff? like if I want to use orb is that possible? Like can the player be in the background and will it route all sound to the headphone?

This thing seems to work completely independent of the MS BT stack and ONLY in the proprietary player. My headphones do support the scatter protocol (??), so a phone call DOES come through the headset but other system sounds do NOT. The other system sounds are audible through the 6700s speakers The player can be in the background and still work. Starting any other app, switching apps causes a quick skip, but that's it.
Did I answer your question mcq?
Running now for 2 hours with only minor skipping. Again AV remote control does not work.
I'm still hoping that Telus includes A2DP in their AKU2 - but this will do until then.

Yup, player must be on, but not in the foreground. I don't have orb set up yet, but I'm guessing it won't work. The player is audio only. Only audio played through the player comes through the headset, with the exception of phone calls - but that's a function of the headset. After the call, the player takes over again, but I don't think it pauses the music. I only have mp3's on the device. I don't know what format my iGuidance GPS sounds are in (they play in WMP but NOT in this player), so I'm thinking mp3s only. I can check wma files in the morning. It's almost 1am here. Gotta sleep.
I did go through the ms bluetooth manager, btw. No new profiles come up for my headset when I rescan services. I think this is going to be a limited solution - but it's fine for me.
so it actually supports phone calls completely? i'm using bluetake's stereo headset with the stereo dongle...but the dongle only supports sound out, so while i hear the calls, i can't use the mic on the headset to talk back.
does it work both ways with this program? if so, despite the apparently lacking interface, it might be a better (and certainly more efficient) method than carrying the dongle.
thanks for the info,

I'm speculating here. The MSI hack is as if you are paired with two devices, the MSI stack and the Microsoft stack (though I know this is all through one BT radio on the 6700). So, if your headset supports pairing with multiple devices, I think you will be able to take calls. I'm guessing if it doesn't work with the dongle, it won't work with this app either.
It works with my headset. The phone rings audibly through the 6700's speakers and then my Sonorix headset beeps, I hit the phone button on the headset, take the call, hang-up on the headset and the music returns.

It only recognizes MP3 format. It doesn't pickup WMP, Audible, or any system sounds. As stated you must use the player. It's a cool step forward, but for me it is useless since I really want to use it with Audible. I have very little in MP3 format.
the dongle i'm using is the limitation, not the headset - the headset is fully a2dp compatible...the dongle, however, only supports sound out...it will not receive sound from the headset...therefore i cannot talk to the caller through it. if this works though, and supports both, then i don't need the dongle.

Ok got the program loaded, replaced the .exe files under \Programs\MSI. Could NOT get the program to even try to play an mp3 file. Then messed around with settings found that apparently this software needs to be paired with my BT headset in addition to the rest of the phone. Had to set my headphones into pairing mode, the program found my plantronics 590a but when I selected it there were no options, no code to enter nothing, just press ok in the upper right hand corner. Pressed ok, went back to the main msi screen saw my headset now listed in the display window (thought I was really making progress here) selected an MP3 hit play, and boom, the program closes and kicks me out to my today screen. After messing for over an hour, it seems like the program and my headset are incompatible. Anyone with 590a out there get this to work or have similar problems? Otherwise it's still dongle time.

I got some funny behavior at first. You did a soft reset? Also, rescan for your device, make sure it is selected and then hit "ok" to return to the player. If you don't actually select/highlight the device it behaves weirdly. You may want to try playing an mp3 off of main memory to make sure it isn't your mini-sd card.
I've tried it all again and gone through the whole process. It won't play an mp3 at all. I put the .mp3 on the main memory. Selected the BT headset. One thing is when I select the 590a in the "select device" screen. I highlight it press ok in the upper right hand corner, but my headset doesn't go out of pairing mode right away. It continues in pairing mode for about another 30-40 seconds then stops. I think my headset won't pair with this software. Now when I highlight an .mp3 and press play, I get an error message that says "error no response from device". HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm. Not sure what's going on. Maybe my headphones have the same internals as the MSI products, but I doubt it. It should work. When it is working and paired the round logo on the top left of the player window shows a green bluetooth logo, replacing the blue one. Are you getting this? I did notice that when I stop a track using the stop button, my headset goes into pairing mode.
anyone have any luck pairing tne HT820 with the XV6700 using this app? im not discovering the headset.
I have the HT820 and I can save you the trouble... It doesn't work. If you want to try for yourself, you need to first put the HT800 into discover mode by holding down the left headset button until it glows blue. Then the MSI software will detect the headphones. Unfortunately, the headphones have a passkey and the MSI software doesn't have any method of entering the passkey so that a parring can take place. I tried [edited] around with the registry for the software to see if I could get it to accept the passkey but no luck. You are welcome to try but If your luck is the same as mine then all you will be doing is a lot of soft resetting of your phone.
Good luck
