I'm using the updated ROM but I don't see how that is relivant. The problem is that the software doesn't allow for a keyed bluetooth paring. That is not related to any intrinsic software on the phone.
Unfortunately, the headphones have a passkey and the MSI software doesn't have any method of entering the passkey so that a parring can take place. Note from moderator: Please refrain from using foul language on this site
This would explain the problem I'm having getting this to work with my plantronics 590a headset. So I guess were out of luck unless some brilliant hacker can get other software to work with this programs BT stack? Or some other work around can be found.
Well, I just purchased the Anycom headphones from above.
I will let the forum know how they work when I get them (3-4 days).
Anyone else having any luck.
We should probably come up with a list of headphones that work vs. don't work with this hack for the benefit of the community.
Tried this with the iphone mini bluetooth stereo headphones. Player installs fine and seems to link up with my iphono's, at least I can select them in the devices screen.
I can pick songs and it seems to cue them up. But when I press play (or any other program buttons) it says "Player is busy. Please wait a moment" and does not play the song.
Yes, I too have tried the iMini headphones. I get the identical response as you do. I have also tried HP headphones with the same result. I do believe it is a pairing issue, and the headphones are waiting for the code to be put in, but the software never asks. You then have to soft reset to get out of it.
SpineDoc & alanbrad, I ran into the same problems with MSI and my i-Phono Bluetake BT420ex stereo headset. When in pairing mode, MSI would detect the headphones, but it would never complete the pairing - security code setup. That said, a couple of times during the pairing process, when I actually did get to the four digit security code entries, MSI would lock up, and only a soft reset would clear it. Also, I could get the blue - bluetooth icon in MSI's BluePlayer to change to green as well, but it would give the "busy" pop-up warning nausea and lock up again once a song was selected. D'oh! So after multiple uninstalls, reinstalls, soft resets, and MSI registry entry removals in order to try another fresh install, I just gave up...
Regardless, thank you bostonGuy for posting the MSI link and info... Just wish it would have worked with my i-Phono Bluetake headphones.
Guess I'm still stuck with the bluetake bluetooth stereo dongle for now. That said, the headphones sound great with the dongle. Heck, the stereo dongle sounds fantastic for that matter. Especially when you compare it to just using the "really freakin horrible" built-in mono bluetooth audio. Yikes! The 6700 bluetooth audio is by far the worst I've had the misfortune of hearing to date. Nevertheless, I'm still hoping we see a complete stereo bluetooth stack in the next Sprint ROM update, or maybe from another third party app like MSI, and hopefully sooner than later... My apologies for type rambling, lol...
With my Logitech Bluetooth Headphones for iPod, the application sees the headphones, they pair, they turn on, etc... but when playback actually is supposed to start, the application (and the phone) just freezes, and nothing works.
Snoop244 Which ROM version do you have on your phone. There were some minor Bluetooth changes in the new ROM.
I'm on Telus. No AKU2 yet, but our ROM was a bit more recent than the other original 6700 ROMs. I'm at 1.04.00 WWE with an Extended ROM of 1.04.705.
One other thing to watch for, and I'm really just speculating, is that the A2DP format is SBC and not MP3 on the MSI player. SBC is easier to synchronize (e.g. for movie playback) but is of lesser audio quality. My Sonorix supports both SBC and MP3. I'm not sure if this is true of other headsets. I don't know if this would get in the way of pairing or not. It could be a red-herring.
Btw, the SBC format is why there is some dropouts in the audio.
OK, for those of us that don't have AKU2 and still see the Blueplayer as the only option for A2DP, I do have one minor discovery that is worth noting: AV Remote Control does work with Blueplayer. I have no clue why it didn't originally, but it is working now. I can pause, skip forward and backward from the headset controls.
While most of you are cruising on the MS A2DP - those of us that can't may find the Blueplayer better than nothing.
Funny thing, I started this thread while trying to be helpful to my fellow HTC users (I have a Cingular 8125) but since I've posted this they've hacked together the true A2DP for these devices over on XDA-Developers.com. The site is giving me a SQL db error this morning, but there's even a thread in this forum with full instructions on getting this working:
So I guess my question is why don't you guys pass on this odd proprietary MSI Blueplayer thingy and follow the above link and instructions to enable full A2DP for all PPC sounds to stream in Stereo over BT?
