Thumbs up I cracked O2 SMS Plus to run on the 6700 (SMS Threading!!!)

This is an SMS threading application that makes SMS work like a chat program. Makes long texting sessions a lot easier to follow.

Let me know if this is working for everyone.

uh no. this is a way to thread text messages so they appear in a "chat" style way or like the treo 600/650.

like a series of texts would appear like this:

Me: Hi this is a text message!
You: Thats cool.
Me: Very much so.

Used IDA to decompile it. Found this reg key:
HKLM\System\State\Phone
"Radio Ready State"

The software, since it is from O2, is expecting a "GSM ready" value of "17" while "CDMA Ready" is "11"

So I found the code location in IDA after a little tracing. Opened it in a hex editor and changed code location 00016B8C from "0F" to "0B"

Signed the code using signcode since the signature was now invalid, rebuilt the .cab with the updated .exe, a little testing/playing, zipped it up, and there you have it.

Easier than pie.

This app kicks azz but how well does it behave with the existing SMS app? Do you have to change any registry settings to set the O2 program as the default SMS message app?

Seems to work flawlessly. It totally smokes.

Is it possible to rid the ppc of the native text message application so that this is the only one?

Upon receipt of a test message, if you click on the balloon it brings up the native software and not the o2.. can this be tweaked in the registry possibly?

So basically it's like the format that Treo uses? That's totally killer!
