cannot get notification to play (WMP plays it fine)

Can anyone help me figure out why my notification doesnt play...

I put a wav file in the Windows folder and it plays fine thru WMP.. however when I go to test it in the Notifications area using the "play" button, it doesnt play...

Help..

Likely your wave file is not recorded at the correct Mhz/bit depth. You can use a sound program to convert using the save as options.

I ran into the same problem....there is a correct rate and htz it has to be? if so what?

argh... what is the correct specs.. WMP plays it fine so I know its a valid file.. I gues notifications have to be specific?

There's no "standard" - you can use any bitrate and width you like. The Windows notificatons the device ships with are 22050Hz, 16-bit mono.

The files do need to be in the Windows PCM format (not ADPCM, ACM, muLaw or other .WAV formats). Also, you may run into problems with playing the file if it's excessively large. Generally anything under 500K is fine.
