how do I launch MS Voice Command using Bluetooth headset??
Why do none of the PDA phones have bluetooth capabilities for voice dialing? I have owned 650's, 700's and now this xv6700, and still I don't have this capability. Do they think that since we are paying $400.00 for these phones that we don't need this capability. We only need this capability if we buy the cheap or free phones.
Is there not the ability to make one work. I have seen all of these hacks and things, however I have not been able to get any of them to work with my phone.

You guys know there is a simple reg edit to allow MS VC to work with BT headsets, right?
Yes, but it's not supported by Microsoft and the blog enty referenced above indicates why, and explains why the recognition level that different headsets get with VC 1.5 varies widely. Hopefully V2.0 of Voice Command will support Bluetooth audio. In the meantime the Cyberon dialer already does.
I have tried all sorts of things, but nothing I can find gives explicite instructions on what to do. I have download the cyberon dialer... It shows up under settings, however I can not see it under programs, nor can I initiate a call using the headset.

I'm aware of what the blog entry says. Just because some dude from Microsoft gave some technical reasons on why it shouldn't work doesn't mean it's the truth.
IMO, VC works perfectly fine over BT. Infact, I rarely ever have it give me a non-recognition over BT. I have more problems *without* the headset to be honest. I guess my H500 does a wonderful job of killing background noise.
hrboerts; change the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path to a new value: '\Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCMD.exe'

The key phrase in your post is "In My Opinion". I'm not trying to discourage people from trying the registry hack you posted, but they should be aware that Voice Command is not supported by Microsoft over bluetooh headsets, and that their mileage may vary from yours.
After all, you might have a particularly clear voice.

Hunh? That has to be one of the most worthless comments I've read on this board. I'm not bashing, really I'm not. But I don't understand the point of your post. MS only supports MS - using your infra red port to control your tivo - using your phone's mini sd as a flash drive - using the camera as a web cam - using the camera's flash as a flashlight - etc. are all very usefull functions that are not supported by MS. When is MS ever that accessible that their support is make or break?

Also, FYI, BT works fine over my hs820
The difference is that Microsoft Voice Command is a Microsoft product and if they do not support its use in the manner the suggested registry hack posted above will implement it (i.e., as the voice dialer for bluetooth devices) then users on this forum deserve to know that. If you consider that worthless information, you're entitled to your opinion. My opinion is that 6700 users that come to this forum, especially those that do not fully understand the technology involved, deserve to know the pros and cons of the hacks and utilities that are recommended here, and not communicating that information is worse than worthless.
I still don't get the point. Who cares if MS supports it or not, it works. MS doesn't care about the active sync errors we all get. Call them, I have - it's a waste of time. I still use activesync though.
Also, I meant to say that VC works pretty well over my Hs820 - not great in a noisy room, but it doesn't really work on my handset then either.
Ok, I have read all of your replies, and I understand that somewhere out there there is a hack to make the phones work with bluetooth, and BTW, I have tried some of them and I still can't get it to work. I have tried to download a reg editor from www.phm.lu, and I am told that the website doesn't exist, It crashed. Also for newbies we need plain jane directions.... You either must have VC or not have VC, plus these files (with a link to those files, that works), plus explicit directions on what must be done. Or we need a cab file that does everything for you such as the speed dial from the today screen that was stolen from the 700w.
What I want to know is why are these phones being released with out handsfree bluetooth inherent in the device. My cheap $20.00 phone will do it, why not the $400.00 phone. I read where people say the headsets can't handle it. BULL@$#%, the same headset works with the $20.00 phone what is wrong with MS or PALM that they don't seem to make it work on their end.

That will allow MSVC to work over BT.
I have Voice Command installed to my main memory and this registry key doesn't show up under OEM. It DOES show up under Software\Microsoft\VoiceCommand but then the keys aren't there.
Any other ideas?

Ok are you telling me that all I have to do to make BT work on my 6700 is to purchase and install VC, then edit the registry, and make this change and everything will work just fine?

Download that .zip file, rename it to .cab on your computer, then install it on your phone. This worked for me without purchasing or installing the Microsoft Voice Command software. After it is installed, you need to make sure in your Bluetooth settings that the headset is set to work with the program "Hands Free". To do this just click on it under the Devices tab. Pressing the "make call" button on your headset will launch the voice dialer.
This program requires you to record a custom voice tag for every contact you wish to voice dial; this wasn't a big deal for me as there aren't many people that I wanted to set it up for. It works flawlessly with my BT headset and the recognition is very good.

If you want to try the hack suggested above you don't have to purchase Microsoft Voice Command, you can download the trial here (use the "Try It Now" button).
Again, your mileage may vary (YMMV) when it comes to using a bluetooth headset to initiate the commands.
oK I am willing to try this, however it still doesn't answer the question of why isn't the capability built into it?
By the way any place to get a registry editor that works? See my prevoius post concerning www.phm.lu
The Cyberon voice dialer is built into the XV/6700, and the PPC-6700 after upgrading to the AKU2. Search this forum for "cyberon" for more information on that dialer. Unlike Voice Command, that dialer requires that you assign voice tags to your contacts before using it to dial them.
Try this link for the registry editor you were trying to download.

He's just letting people know, so that when they go out and spend $40 on Voice Command, they aren’t disappointed when they find out it is not supported. I'd be pretty annoyed if I had just dropped $40 on something that wasn't guarenteed to do what I thought it did. Give him a break. Let me guess - you didn't pay for the software.
