I've had the exact same thing happen to me twice now. The first time was before the ROM upgrade. But it happened again today (post upgrade). Is there maybe a registry setting that can be deleted so the account can be recreated?

I just received a new 6700 and used SPB Backup to save/restore everything. It went perfectly, except that it didn't transfer my gmail account. When I went to recreate it, it said it is already there. Does anyone have any solutions to either deleting the pop email account or making it show up in the list of mail accounts?

Thanks

i have had this happen to me every so often with my gmail accounts.....i cant say i have a fix though hard resets are supposed to free up the account names, i have done some but i think it either doesnt work for me or spb backup brought them back. i am just happy i have the accounts receiving and sending again......

Same thing happened to me. Last night my email accounts were fine. This morning, I clicked on my POP and IMAP email accounts on the Today screen, (which still show unread messages) and nothing happened. So I went in to messaging and those POP and IMAP accounts are gone - only my Outlook account was still there.

Went to recreate the missing accounts, and got the error that the account name already exists. So I recreated the account with a slightly different account name, and, of course, still have the duplicate account showing up with unread messages on my Today screen.

I've searched here, on some other forums, and the MS PocketPC newsgroup, and have come up with nothing helpful.

I'll continue to poke around and see what I can figure out.

This is something that should be addressed in the next WM version?

I too am having the same problem with the missing email accounts after restoring a backup from SPB.

This is terrible having to re-enter these accounts every time you restore a backup. Then again re-entering some email accounts as apposed to having to install everything from scratch...I'll take the missing email accounts anyday.

Is.

Normally restoring a back up shouldn't kill your email accounts. I have restored several times and not had any problems using SPB Backup. But...I have restored using different ROMs and had this issue. Hard reset is the solution. There is not a registry entry for the accounts, they are stored in a database that we cannot edit. I have checked with several devs, too, same answer...

Think of it as nice opportunity to freshen up your phone
