Here is an email i got from them today regarding their outage:
Dear Mr. Harkins,
Sometime around 4:30am Saturday morning, we experienced a partial, yet important outage of our 4SmartPhone service. On behalf of our company, I would like to apologize for any inconvenience that this might have caused.
Without getting too technical, one of our front-end servers had a hardware failure at approximately 4:30 AM (GMT-7), but because of the particular nature of the problem, its network connectivity (heartbeat) was still alive, therefore preventing the normal fail-over to transfer over to one of our backup servers if and when such an issue might occur. It also made this event more difficult to identify and solve.
Nevertheless, an hour later, with a second alarm, our team was deployed to the data center to make the necessary intervention, and retire the faulty server. The service was back up briefly around 8:45 to 9:00 AM, but we brought it back down to finalize necessary and important changes as well as the setting up of crucial deployments for our new failover servers that have been installed. Hence, 4SmartPhone's full service was re-established around 10:18 AM.
It is important to note that while this outage prevented many customers from accessing their mailboxes, NO emails had been lost as the servers handling mail reception as well as retrieval from POP accounts were not affected by the outage at all.
Once again, we apologize, I want to thank you all for your understanding, and for being 4SmartPhone customers.
Please do not hesitate to contact us again if necessary.
Best regards,
The 4SmartPhone Team

Being the impatient people that we are, we seem to find these issues pretty quick........ but it looks like they got it fixed so all is good now in the world of email.
