Ringtones from storage card

Hey all, I did a search and came up with editing the reg to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\Directory\Storage Card\ringtones

the \Storage Card\ringtones are where all my files are at, but none are coming up as available ringtones, just the ones that are still in the Windows\Rings folder, as well as the original ringers. However when I click on the original ringer it says its corrupt.

I tried putting ringtones in and editing the reg to point to:
\Storage Card\ringtones
\Storage Card\My Documents\ringtones
\Storage Card\My Documents\
\Program Files

None of those worked at all, and its a PITA lol. Can anyone help me out and see what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

I don't suggest putting them on the SD card anyway. It can lead to a longer ring delay when a call comes in as well they have a habit of reverting to the default ring if you have one of the SD cards that is slow to wake from suspend.

I've had it on my sd card for a while starting on my old audiovox 5600 without any problem. I used a SanDisk card, but I understand that others have reported problems, i.e. slow response or delayed alarms. If you want to use sounds on the sd card, simply place them in the root of the sd card.

Yes they need to be in the root of your storage card, but as stated most of the time they don't work right

I ended up leaving the value for the directory blank and it picked up all the songs. I have no idea why, but I'm not complaining.

I use Inesoft's address book. It lets me use ringtones from my SD card. Different sound for each person if I wish. Works great.

I don't think any regedits are necessary. My ringtones in \storage card\my documents\ always show up even after I do hard resets.
