contacts from an Outlook profile will not sync over to 6700

I am a neophyte with the vx6700, so maybe I am doing something wrong

I have set up ActiveSync to sync against a particular Outlook profile. Everything selected for sync appears to sync with the mobile device except Contacts. The little "check" appears next to Contacts during Synchronization, but nothing seems to happen. There are some 400 individual contact entries in the Outlook pst and zero on the vx6700. The Contacts screen area where I would expect to see something is completely blacnk except for the message "Tap Menu, New Contact to create a new contact." Is it possible that the contacts are on the mobile device but for some reason they are "invisible"? Do I need to do something special on the vx6700 side to make the Contacts visible? I have explored the Options, View By, and Filter menus looking for something that might be blocking everything, but found nothing obvious.

It also seems to take a very long time to perform the sync operation. On my previous PDA, a Palm Tungsten, sync took 20 to 30 seconds for typical stuff including a file similar to contacts of some 800 items. With ActiveSync and the vx6700, the sync operation takes 2 to 3 minutes for 10% as much information.

Thanks

Contacts Don't Work

this may seem like a silly question, but I can not get the Contacts function to work on my recently purchased vx6700. I have tried syncing to my Outlook profile; everything I want to sync, e.g., tasks, calendar, etc., syncs fine, but Contacts do not. Or if they do, I can not "see" them on the vx6700. I have tried manually entering a contact into the vx6700 as per the User's Manual. Everything seems proceed as I would expect until I try to "see" the contact just entered. Nothing is visible. Assuming that my Outlook contacts were copied to the mobile device, there should be over 400 contact items. But there appears to be zero. Are there any settings that could be creating this problem?

Hi, if you could please not start redundant threads, it would really help me out a lot! Thanks!

This just happened to a buddies phone and the uninstall/reinstall trick worked.

I have done that twice with the same results. Everything else (calendar, task list, etc., syncs fine, but not contacts). I am beginning to suspect that there is something wrong with my xv6700 software; in particular the contact manager s/w. Even when I manually enter a contact directly into the xv6700 (precisely as describd in the Users Manual), I can find no way to display it. I have examined the filters and settings pretty carefully, but nothing is obviously wrong. It is as though there is a filter in place to only display contacts that pass through the filter (like last names beginning with P or area codes = 716 or similar), but the filter is totally opaque and lets nothing through.

Just a thought. If you have created multiple contact lists in Outlook, Activesync will only use the default one. I haven't found a way to tell outlook to use a different contact list as the default, so all of my contacts have had to be placed in the default contacts list, using categories to be able to sort on the XV.

I have figured out how to get ActiveSync to work with virtually any PST file in any profile; it does not have to be your default profile. At least I have for any folder in any PST except Contacts.

You have got me thinking though ... my default profile has a MS Exchange Server service and I was not able to sync using it as the sync target. I might be inclined to wonder more about that if it were not for the fact that I can not even get manually entered into the xv6700) contacts to display.

I have finally been able to sync my contacts with my phone. After rebooting windows on the phone, the contacts data suddenly "appeared". Subsequent syncs seem to have worked.

How did you "reboot" windows on the phone?
