will I have to reinstall Storage Card programs after hard reset??

I plan on hard resetting my PPC6700. I have some programs already loaded on my storage card. My question is whether these programs on the storage card will automatically reload themselves after I perform a hard reset, or should I unload the programs from the storage card, perform a hard reset, and then re-load each individual program onto the storage card.

I assume after a hard reset that the device will not "know" where my previously loaded programs are unless I load them onto the device at that point.

I'm not the expert except for the fact that I have had to do three hard resets already, ugh! One of my programs Copilot after a soft reset started to install itself again from the card. One of the times it did it successfully and another time I had to delete everything. That was the only program I owned that started the install on its own.

ActiveSync will have all of your programs unchecked. Just so there isn't a belch I recommend checking one at a time and then click OK. They will go through the install process and you get to pick memory or storage card again. Most of the programs should install without having to delete files on the card. I did have one or two that failed because the folders already existed. At least that is my hunch and when I deleted the folder for the particular program on the card the install completed.

Of course if you are starting from scratch you may want to delete everything on the card anyway to make sure it is a clean install. Or copy to a folder on your PC. I did that on my last hard reset. The registry has no knowledge of the programs so checking the programs to install from ActiveSync should do the trick. Again I'm not the expert so make sure you have all of your programs and registration keys handy.

FYI - On a rom change many programs think you are installing on a new device and won't install. Sometimes you have to go back to the site where you bought the program to clear the registration key in order to continue the install. In all cases the vendors are understanding and should help if you have a problem.

Is there anyway to keep my e-mails and have them "restored" onto the PPC6700 after a hard reset, or do I have to redownload them from the Sprint mail server after a hard reset?

I already have my e-mail separated into different folders. If I perform a hard reset, I will probably lose the e-mail folders. Last time I did that, I had to "re-pull" the e-mails off the Sprint mail server and then separate the e-mails into individual folders again.

Thanks.

A backup utility (e.g. Sprite Backup) will handle this for you.
