Well I'm down at Alltel corporate in Little Rock at the moment(work for the company) and I can't seem to find anyone who knows anything about it. Not saying it's not true, but thats the last I've been able to find thus far. We'll see I'm down here for a few more days though so maybe I'll catch someone with some more info.
the customer service centers better be supplied with the cables to do the update. right now alltel has another version of ROM but the customer service center here dont have the cable to do the upgrade. I have version 1.04 and the latest alltel ROM is version 1.05 according to TECH but the service centers dont have the cables to do the upgrade and tech won't give the customer the latest version to upgrade yourself. does anybody have alltels version 1.05?
Well keep in mind that not everyone is an moron be it working for alltel or not. All companies will have simular staffing issues because people are constantly wanting a cheaper product which causes them to lower wages and eventually it's no wonder you end up with people in customer service that I don't want to flip my burger. Welcome to the internet economy we'll see how it works out for us all in the next few years.

As far as the update still haven't anything important and I'm sitting in Ohare waiting for a flight so I'll keep my eyes peeled.
Back in the middle of nowhere again and I didn't get any news from corporate about it at all. So we'll have to wait and see, I'll post as soon as I hear something though.
Actually Verizon is at 1.05.00 as well. The only ones to recieve the updated rom so far are Sprint users. Verizon, Qwest, AllTel, and Telus users are still waiting...
According to the rep that I just talked to. The Alltel firmware is going to be released on Friday. Said they have had it for awhile and are working out some bugs.

What will this new firmware improve? Hopefully MMS, seeing that we're the only ones to date that can't get the mms hack to work.
ok its friday how do we get the rom update. I dont see anything on their web site. and i just got off the phone with tech and they said it will be a few more weeks

Question: When will the new ROM for the audiovox/utstarcom 6700 be released? Several of the other carriers have released this update and Alltel still hasnt.... any ETA??
Answer: Unfortunately at this time we do not have an ETA on the software for this equipment, we are in the process of acquiring this software it has just not been communicated the length of time that it will take to get it. Please continue to check the Alltel.com website for this software to become available.
I just got and email from the data tech that help solve the "trash sms" we all (alltel users) had for about 1 month. It got fixed today, but anyway he says the ROM update is due out next week. I have to seem to believe that because he was on top of the SMS issue and just had to wait for Microsoft and the SMS vendor to get together to get the trash issue fixed. He was very up front and right on when it came to dates, ETAs and more. So I would almost bet on this update next week. NO HE DIDNT GIVE A DAY, just next week.
