Is there a way to remove Windows Mobile startup logo after ROM update?

Hi,

Not sure if this has been posted but I skimmed through the ROM sticky and couldn't find it. Has anyone been able to disable/remove the Windows Mobile startup logo the shows up after doing a ROM update? TIA

Not sure if this is what you are trying to accomplish...

Read this somewhere, haven't tried it yet. Supposedly you can use you're own image for boot up:

Copy any picture in .gif format with the filename "carrierlogo" to \\windows directory.

Thanks for the reply but that's not what I'm talking about. After updating the device with the new ROM, everytime I soft reset, I get the Sprint logo which is normal but right after that, I get a blue Windows Mobile logo. That's the logo I'm trying to remove/disable. This wasn't the case with the original ROM.

I'm on Verizon, so no ROm update here..however, after the Verizon logo comes up after a soft reset, I have always gotten the blue Windows Mobile screen.

Must be something that Sprint left alone on this new update...still haven't found a way to disable it but I did replace it with another image. The file you want to replace is welcomehead.96.png in the Windows folder.

I have a Sprint phone and I have the Windows Blue logo. I really don't know why you would care to remove it? It is only there for a few seconds!

My 6700 is wierd (I am still on the origional ROM though). When I first had it, it never displayed the blue WM logo. Then one day it started showing it for a while. Then one day it stopped for a while. Now it has been showing it again for a while. I dont know what I could be doing or changing that causes this.

It's just a preference...if you like it, then stick with it.

If you didn't upgrade the ROM yet, then the only time that WM logo shows up is when you have the password lock on. If you disable password lock, it will go away.

The windows logo is what I'm working on right now, I want to change it to my own. In the windows directory, (make sure u check view all files) there is a file in there that is welcomehead.96.png I am 95% certain this is the file, but everyting i go to uncheck hidden and read only, they just check themselves back. also system file is checked and greyed out....

That is the correct file (see my post earlier in the thread). Just create a 320x320 png file and overwrite the one in the Windows folder.

You'll need to copy it to your storage card first. The builtin file explorer will not let you overwrite it. You will need a 3rd party explorer. I use Resco and it works. As for the Sprint logo, I believe it's in the EXTROM. I think it will only change when you have the new image on there and hard reset.

THe sprint one, when u change on the EXT rom, will show up when customizing, but as soon as that done, it goes to the sprint logo... I take it Resco isn't free??

EDIT- I just did a reg backup, installed teh trial, unistalled, and then restored the registry. All is well now, and i have my new bootup img Yea!!! I may be actually looking to buy that, looks like a worthy program...
