I just performed my first Remote Wipe and here is what I discovered.

Using the Mobile Admin Web Form I was able to initiate a Wipe.


My device then received a notification asking if I wanted to synchronize to enforce a security policy.


My guess is that if the device fell into the wrong hands, they wouldn't answer yes to this option. If you cancel you are still able to browse emails already synched and explore the phone. You will just see this message on the ActiveSync page


When I finally answered "Yes", the device hard sets itself and the status message on the Web Admin gets updated stating the device was wiped. The information on the Storage Card IS NOT wiped.

If you have sensitive data, be sure to encrypt and password protect your device.

NOTE: If you have recovered the device and want to use it again, you need to cancel the "wipe action" (doesn't sound good) from the Mobile Web Admin or else it will try to wipe again at next sync.
