1.) Just curious, if I wanted to sync to my companies exchange, so I can get my Calendar, Contacts what ports/services need to be open externally into my companies Exchange system etc to allow this? Anyone have any good articles on how to do this?
2.) From what I have seen, say my company doesnt want to allow connections into it for security reasons, but wants to support direct push, from reading the main guide you have to have previously setup an exchange connection (which isnt the same as active syncing to my work pc to get contacts and calendar is it/) to get to the push mail setup featires, but if I cant sync to exchange in the first place, how can I set it up to get push mail?
1) The same as Outlook Web Access aka OWA, webmail. You must have Exchange 2003 SP1 or greater. Once the rom update is out you will need Exchange SP2 if you want to take advantage of PUSH email support.
2)Until you get the ROM upgrade the device does not support PUSH yet anyway.
You just use your OWA server address in the settings, it is VERY easy to setup.

OK, this is news to me. My company has OWA, and i login using an RSA key fob. How would i be able to setup my PPC outlook to sync with OWA?
Obviously, i can just navigate to the webpage with PIE, but that's not a real solution. I'm sure there are plenty of people out in the forums that would like to know how to do this easy thing.
Similar question - I can access my company's OWA using a personal certificate and PIE, they call it SSL VPN. This is not a sync but simply viewing through PIE.
If I can view OWA through PIE is there a way to actually configure sync as well? I haven't found a VPN client (or at least the magic configuration) that allows me access into outlook directly. Some detailed help would be greatly appreciated.
Similar to what Lazybones said, I found Active Sync very easy to set up to sync with our Exchange Server at work. According to Microsoft, if OWA has been deployed, then the needed port for Exchange Active Sync (EAS) is already opened.
When I first got my 6700, I asked our IT department if they'd support EAS. Their answer was "maybe" but they would definitely support cradle sync on my desktop PC.
So when I set up ActiveSync on my 6700, under "Configure Server" I put in the URL (Ie. webmail.ourdomain.ca) that I use for OWA. Put in the username, password, and selected This server uses a secure (SSL) connection. And voila...it simply worked. I didn't run into problems with certificates that some have described.
My recommendation--just try putting in the same address that you use for OWA. It just might work!
Hmm makes sense. I need to do some research and see if our RSA or Firewall server sitting in front of the OWA box blocks the EAS service. Im guessing it does. But I'll see what that runs on and check. Nice to know it should be that simple. Now to figure out what they need to do to push email to me, especially if they dont allow my to activesync in.
