When you choose to knowingly break the rules that are clearly spelled out in the first post of this thread, I really do not owe you anything. With that being said, your posts were not deleted (evidenced by the fact of the number of posts in your post count), they were simply moved to a new, dedicated thread specifically for your question/issue. Your reason for posting in this thread is really not that good as the EXACT same people that participate in this thread are the same people that participate in all the other threads in the 6700 forum. Please take a moment to read the sticky forum rules posts a few threads down from this one. It talks about several things, including the advanced search function. Use the advanced search function to search for your username and there you will find your thread that I created for you with all the relevant posts. If you would like to discuss this issue further, please PM me, this current thread is obviously not the place for this discussion.

I moved several posts from this thread into dedicated threads. This current thread is not a general thread for people to post in for whatever random question/issue they have after upgrading their ROM (keep posts here limited to the actual upgrade process). We have dedicated threads for each issue that has come up with the ROM upgrade and that is where you need to post. If I moved your post and you want to find it, use the advanced search function (http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/search.php) to search for your username and there you will find your posts in their proper thread.

You will need to download and install a registry editor.

Once installed add the following entries to the registry:

Reg Sub Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\RND IS]
Name of value to add: MTU
Type: DWORD
Data: 1514

Reg Sub Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\RND IS]
Name of Value to add: MaxOutTransfer
Type: DWORD
Data: 1642

After adding these entries perform a soft reset of the device and try to sync.
Thank you! I love the new ROM upgrade, but have not been able to sync via USB since installing it. I tried every other imaginable suggestion I could find in any forum (disabling firewall, etc.). I could wirelessly sync to our corporate Exchange server and sync to my laptop via IRDA, but no USB connectivity. Your suggested registry edit finally did the trick. I made the suggested entries, reset the phone, rebooted the PC, and had connectivity!

The only other challenge I have now is getting the phone to function stably as a tethered modem. I used that capability in the past with my old Samsung i500 and Treo 600, and it came in handy at times. With this phone, I have been able to get it to work with the help of PdaNet, and as long as I don't launch eRAS to VPN to our corporate network, everything is fine. As soon as I do launch eRAS, though, it kills the USB port for some reason. That one, I'm afraid, is going to be a little thornier to solve.

All in all, though, I have 6699 reasons to love this phone. Thanks again!

Now, when I go to "Sounds&Notifications" --> select Phone:MissedCall, the REPEAT box is greyed out ???

It only works for REMINDERs.. but what about MISSEDCALLS, VoiceMAils Repeat alert? Thanks
please do NOT crosspost this to multiple threads. you started a thread about this a few days ago and that is sufficient. As I mentioned just two posts above, this thread is NOT for whatever random problem/issue you are having after performing the ROM upgrade, it is for the upgrade process itself. I am going to move your post to the thread you started.

As I mentioned earlier, the flash went okay, but it changed my device code. I had to contact 3 different software vendors for new activation keys as a result. One of the vendors, TomTom, is located in Europe and does not have great turnaround time.

Because some/many people cannot seem to follow some basic instructions, I am locking this thread. I had to move more posts from this thread over to new threads because some seem to think this is the place to post whatever problem they have with the new ROM when I have said on more than one occassion not to do that (it is for the update process only). By locking this thread, hopefully that will force people to locate the specific thread in the forum that deals exactly with their ROM upgrade issue. Will leave this stickied for a while so that people can see the poll results and/or get an idea of the kind of issues to expect if they choose to upgrade.

ROM Update...er....update

Updated my ROM on 6700 today (with the same one that's been around for a bit) - called Sprint CS to get my MSL etc in the event that I had the EVDO problem, and they sent me an email with the following instructions for updating the ROM:

------------------------
1. Go to Sprint Downloads Website (http://www.sprint.com/downloads)

2. Select "Windows CE" from the "Select your operating system" field and click the "Submit" button

3. Click "Download" to the right of the "PPC 6700 Upgrade Application" link

4. If prompted, select "Save" and place the download file on the computer's desktop

5. Simultaneously hold down on the Power button (top-left on the device), Memo Record button (icon of cassette tape at the top of the left-side), and insert the stylus in to the Reset hole (bottom-left). The device display will show "Serial" at the top of the screen. This will change to "USB" when the device is connected to the USB cable (next step). IF THIS STEP IS NOT FOLLOWED, THE UPGRADE WILL FAIL!

6. Connect the device to the laptop/desktop using the USB cable originally included with the PPC-6700

7. Click the downloaded file "APAC_SPCS_20600_300_11200_ship.exe" to begin the installation

8. Follow the installation wizard prompts

The upgrade procedure takes approximately 20 minutes.

--------------------------------

I hadn't seen the bit about pressing the power & memo and reset keys to put it in that mode anywhere else, so I thought I'd let y'all know. Update worked fine for me and I didn't need to use my MSL/MSID after all.
