trust me i have explored plenty of other options - i am very familiar with vnc, radmin, gotomypc, terminal services and a bunch of other types of remote administration - nothing, so far, compares to my logmein experience on my 6700 - though i use radmin for my normal computers. thanks though.

btw web based is far superior when dealing with dynamic IP's if you don't want to deal with a dns2go type software...and when you have several computers that you need remote access to.

anyone else notice that Darknight hasn't posted since his infamous bootloader method post? LOL

I just downgraded to the original ROM. It was not a benefit for me with the new ROM; I don't use Push email, don't like the battery icon, and the overall sound was lower--just my .02.

Make sure you REALLY know/want this new update is my advice. Some progs have problems too with it...FYI

EDIT: Stealthy PM'ed me; the old "red" logo ROM and the newer "Yellow" ROM are apparently much the same--according to Stealthy, he said that the only difference was the .bmp image on the startup.

On Post #535 it shows the voice dialing screen. How the heck do you get there? I've been having trouble figuring the voice dial and I think I must have missed a hack.

Can be applied at a Sprint store if you can find a tech that knows how.

I went ahead and said "screw it". I installed everything with the Red Logo ROM. I figure it has to be the most "stable" (if there is such a thing ) of the ROMS.

I am not doing ANY more hard resets...or ROM upgrades...I am sick of it all...

Thanks DK

I too have been fighting fast battery drain since the upgrade, which also blew out my installed programs and settings. I just turned off beam (never use it) setting, not sure what else to do other than turn down screen brightness, etc. FYI I don't use it for e-mail, have an RSS reader and that's about it (don't live in an EVDO area either).

PS: As much as I love the phone, I hate what upgrades often do to computers, even one that slides into the pocket

From what I have been reading, the "yellow-logo" ROM, is on the newer units with the blue-lit keyboard.

Looks like this rom also has the highest volume settings,
but doesn't have the voice dialer or smart dialer like new rom...

I haven't upgraded untill I get all my registry sound settings searched.

i think you're looking at the picture of the smart dialer, if you open up your phone then press menu on the right bottom you will see the :"smart dialing options" then you can click about and see that page.
If you're trying to open up the voice dialer it is actually opened under settings, personal tab, then "voice speed dial"

hello guys,
I have not been around here for a while, I honestly hate this phone, I just never had the time to get something else.
I decided to visit the forum to see what's new and voila! a new ROM.
I have read 10 pages and iam ready to jump out the window.
people talking about different ROMS and cooking ROMs! and 100 links to get those ROMS
I am frankly lost, please remember that not all of us are like some of you.
can some one please tell me how to install the best ROM with out the extra crap that sprint shoves in our faces.
what and where to do u cook ROMs?
also, am a MAC user, is there a sync program for the 6700.

thank you so much in advance

Go to Settings -> Sounds & Notifications -> Notifications, and select "Reminders," as an example. Then check the box for "Repeat." You can do this for the other events as well.

hey you have a great phone. Like the rest of us, you got in early, bleeding edge so to speak.

The potential for a satisfactory experience is definitely there. Many of us are pushing the envelope by going as far as we can in tweaking and pushing the functionality of our phones.

All you need to do is to bring your phone to a sprint store and have them update the ROM. If you are adventuresome, it really is not that challenging to try some of the registry hacks but even without the sync capability if you have the MAC.

It is up to you. Most here like the benefits of the ROM. Also, the rumors of a successive ROM make the ills of the 2.06.00 ROM likely to be cured.

As for cooking the ROM, you need to get the ROM unlocker and then remove the offending programs from the Extended ROM once the file is 'unhidden'.

PM if you have further questions, I know, this thread is now very long and finding all of the specific posts is getting difficult, even with the search..

Hello. A couple of things I would like to mention:

1. Something to consider is that if you are lost by all this talk, then you may not even need the ROM upgrade.

2. I know it may be daunting, but it would be a good idea to take an hour and read through this entire thread if you do decide to go through with the ROM upgrade. It will give you an idea of the kinds of issues you should expect after the update (such as needing to reprogram the phone yourself after the ROM update in order to get phone calls to ring through during an EVDO data session: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showt...=ring+through).

3. We have a dedicated thread as to how to modify the new ROM/remove junkware from it. It is located here:

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68773

4. Please be careful about asking questions unrelated to the thread topic. Asking an off-topic question (such as your Mac sync question) can change the entire focus of a thread. While that is unlikely to happen in this thread, it is something to keep in mind in other, shorter threads that have less activity. Of course, by simply doing a search for "macintosh" you can easily find this thread:

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showt...ight=macintosh

5. If you haven't done so already, please take a few minutes and read the sticky forum rules post, located at the top of the forum or via this link:

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66189

It discusses how to effectively use the search function of this forum to extract information as welll as contains lots of other useful information.

I know that my question was a little off topic, but you could have told me where to post it rather than deleting it without saying anything. I have been reading this post from the beginning, and I think this is the only crew that might have a hack that would speed up the SD card. So, if you wouldn't mind telling me where else to post the question I will post it there as to not annoy.

Thanks to those who helped with answering the question before it was deleted!!

Thanks
