URPREY, thanks for the screenshots. I still haven't had the opportunity to upate, but I've been keeping up with all the buzz. Oh boy, what to do...much needed sleep, or play? Thanks again.

Anyone else have any problems with logmein? After I go to their site, it will install their prog and I hit continue, but it just keeps asking me to install the prog again.

I believe the second file is the one that makes it visible. I just know that I hard reset about 8 times in the past day, and each time I ran both of these files and it worked fine for me each time.

Sleep is overrated. I stayed up till 4am last night working on this stuff, and then was back up at 7:30 to go to work/sit at my desk and work on this stuff

I'm sure that's exactly what the program is doing, but I read every day about all the issues that are caused by some of the homemade registry hacks. I haven't had any of those problems. It's also much easier to click on a checkbox instead of messing around with the registry. If anything goes wrong, I just run the program again and uncheck it. Most of the hacks listed on this forum can be easily done with one click.

I asked for the MSL code and explained what I was going to do, so she gave it to me. She said she was going to do some further investigation of this.

In the meantime, I did a ##786# reset with my phone, reprogrammed, did an IOTA update, restored from latest backup after installing new ROM last night, and it works great! I can stream via Orb, and an incoming phone call interrupts my data connection again. You guys rock!!!

I'll post an update once she calls back and I demonstrate for her that streaming XM from the net is actually interrupted when a phone call comes in
I missed the callback from the Advanced Technical Support rep, but basically she told me that they had verified that a phone call would not interrupt an active EVDO data connection and that was by design. I really wanted to talk with her (her name is Georgia) because I wanted to tell her I got it working again and how I did it. Thanks to this forum I have much more knowledge than most of the Sprint tech people. She didn't even know what a slot cycle index was

There is a application that will hide the Extended Rom again. This registry hack works fine:

Doing this RTN(786) will Clear/Hardreset your phone. This will put it back into "out of the box" and nothing will work until you program it again., you need more than this "unlock" code to reprogram your phone...READ READ READ the thread plz before doing this.

I bet they are not deleting the cabs they dont want to install. They are doing it like before just install what you want and leave the rest alone.

You have to realize though, that the person on the phone is just some high school grad reading prompts off the screen, whereas people on the forums can range from stupid to engineers and programmers (I'm an elec engineer myself). We see things differently because we actually understand what's going on.

This worked on the old rom as well.

I agree. I just delete what I don't want installed, and don't even bother re-writing the config file. Lots of space in the 'ol extended rom for programs too!

You have to call Sprint for this code. Just tell them you want to change your slot cycle index. They won't know what you're talking about, and they'll give it to you just to get you off the phone. That's what worked for me

I'm having the same problem also. I even tried a soft reset but it still isn't working. I have uninstalled and figured I would try again later.

Did you install it on the main memory or your SD card. I installed on my SD card and was going to try installing on main memory later.

Catch 22

An appropriate title for a post on page 22 (!) of this day old thread, but more than that it decribes my frustration as one of the PPC-6700 users trying to figure out when to take the plunge on this ROM upgrade.

Anyway, the catch 22 is that we can't see the results of the poll until we vote, and yet the results of the poll would be useful in helping us to decide if we want to take the plunge and then comment on our experience.

So I used my crystal ball and decided that my upgrade would have minor problems that I could resolve, voted appropriately, and attached a .jpg image of a snapshot of the results to date.

I hope that helps the rest of you fence sitters.
