Personally, I'd leave it be. If you want to feel safe, just change it to "0." If Sprint ever decided to enable PAM, it would block the service, just like it did on all the other power-vision phones, until you get a PAM pack. Then we could just disable it

Jason,

If your contacts are currently in Outlook on your PC, they will sync right over on the first sync after the ROM upgrade. If they are not in Outlook on your PC, then they will not sync over. No offense, but this isn't really the place for newbie type questions (as the first post in this thread points out). If you decide to post in this thread, you need to make sure you have read the entire thread. This thread is really for a technical discussion of the ROM update for users who already have a good familiarity with their Sprint 6700, which I am sure you will be as well once you take some time to really read this forum and play around with your 6700.

Interesting....

This was a prev hack to make it run faster. SPRINT DIDN'T TOUCH IT!! Wonder if it will make it faster still?? Have to play w/it later......

Speedup GLYPHCACE
-Note - users have had issues with this tweak
1. Open your registry editor on your Pocket PC
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\
3. Change the value of 'limit' from 8192 to 32768
4. Close registry editor and soft reset.
I actually used 16384 instead, as it would use less memory and it’s a happy medium.

My first attempt resulted in a brick. I used Darknight's method to get into the bootloader, reattempted the flash and was good to go. (Thanks, Darknight).

I don't want to crash the party, but if I understand correctly, a Sprite restore is not recommended?

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I HAVE TO REINSTALL EVERY SINGLE &^$#*# APP ALL OVER AND REDO ALL THE SAVED SETTINGS FOR EACH APP???

Is that correct? Is there no way to restore just the apps and their settings at least from a Sprite backup?

???

Here is a cab to unhide your extrom and install the unlocker to to make it writable.

Just run this cab, then browse to \Program Files\ExtRom_Tools and click on APA_ext_rom_unlock.exe Soft reset.

When it comes back up, you will have full control over your ext rom.

I keep this on an SD card and saves a few steps in making my ext rom visible on each hard reset. No more installing a reg editor every time. If I could figure out how to autoexecute a file on installation, it would be one step.

Once you cook your ext rom, you could place these in there for auto unlocking/unhiding on every reboot.

Now that I've upgraded to the latest ROM, on each and every soft reset for me, my cooked EXTROM is back to the factory settings - everything I've deleted comes right back... anybody else with this issue?

No one is going to stop you from doing so, but I can all but guarantee you'll be in for a world of heartache if you try to restore.

This is not a minor ROM update... it involves a major version increment and there are a LOT of changes under the hood. Do yourself a favor and wait to do this until you have time to completely re-set up your device.

OK - I've been using 4smartphone.com - and ever since this upgrade, I feel that I'm not getting my email notifications when I receive a new email... I'll get notifications once in a while - but it'd be for 3-4 messages at once (including messages that arrived few minutes ago..) - anyone else seeing this?

With the old rom and sms push email, I was getting instant notifications..

We're not sure about CM_Guardian... it was speculated that it just verifies that the data connection is set up after each hard reset, but I don't know what evidence led to that conclusion (it was posted early in this thread).

sddaemon is probably a component of the new cyberon sddialer (voice call app).

I've removed both from startup and notice no changes. Damn voice dialer still "works" when you press bluetooth button. Smartdialer still works in full. No problems connecting to EVDO. And no files got replaced in startup.....

Set up device all over

I'm still in shock and awe from finding out that I'll have to set up everything again (first PPC device - on Treos you just hit the restore button after a ROM upgrade and all was back to normal).

Are there any tips for those of us who have dozens of apps? Can you selectively find files that store settings and restore them one at a time? Would running all the CABs and then say, restoring the Program Files folder be a good idea?

Obviously, I don't mind having to reinstall all apps TOO MUCH, but if you tell me I have to redo all my NetFront bookmarks and email settings (for example), I'm going to toss this brick out the window (it's under warranty )

Also new (I think), under the settings for pictures and videos there is a checkbox for "start slideshow if connected to pc and idle for 2 minutes". Someone who hasn't updated their phone check this, I don't remember it being there.
