In phone settings (Menu->Options->Services->Voicemail)
Just noticed that I no longer have the "voicemail" setting.
Location Setting
Roaming
TTY Mode
Internet
Time Syncronization
Alert
No voicemail. No loss to me, its not like I actually check it anyway.
EDIT: Roaming also now shows the standard "Sprint Only", "Automatic", "Roaming Only" for me. Only thing I've done since last night is a soft reset or two... Interesting.
Ok I lost my phone charger this week at the airport.. I have my phone just sitting in the cradle connected to the usb and it seems to be charging.. Has the phone always done this and if so how fast does it charge.?

Yes it will charge via USB, since the USB spec says that it must provide 5V.
Charging will be slow via that method though... definitely keep the phone in suspend mode to gain any benefit of charging via that method.
There should be no difference between USB and AC Adapter. They are both supplying 5V. There are limitations of using some USB hubs especially with multiple devices... some unpowered USB hubs will not supply enough current to charge the 6700.
Connecting your USB cable directly to your PC should give you a solid 5V charge... As long as your PC is on
luv2chill - Do you notice a difference in charge time? Is there any documentation of charge time differences.. Ive always wondered if there was any difference at all but figured 5V is 5V.. I didnt think this thing drew enough current to no charge at full speed on USB. It seems the AC adapter is really just there for convenience and to charge the secondary battery slot on the cradle.

I'm confused now. So it was you who posted earlier talking about the differently-worded Roaming options? That post is gone now (there were 15 pages in this thread when I went to bed at 4ish am).
Suffice it to say that if you let the ENTIRE extrom install, you will have the Voicemail setting as well as all three roaming options in your phone settings.
It's not a matter of voltage it's a matter of current. USB ports can only provide .5 Amps, whereas the AC adapter provides 1 Amp. It makes a big difference. If you're using your phone while charging it via USB port you can actually deplete the battery.
Edit: I didn't see the rest of your post. Yes the phone will absolutely make use of 1A if you supply it with 1A.

Ok I need help I'm kinda new here and I have had my PPC 6700 for about a month. First of all where can I find this new update ??
Second if I take my phone to the sprint store will they be able to backup all my programs and data and put it all back when they are done updating the device?? if not can someone please post how not to lose my data and info like contacts and programs?
Third if I have programs installed on the memory card will they work right after I update???
Please read the first few pages of the thread. You will find the links to download and a readme file. If you don't feel comfortable doing the update yourself then you can have the Sprint store do it (but I think you need to wait until the 20th).
No Sprint will not back up anything for you. You will need to reinstall all of your programs and basically set up your device again as if it was new after the ROM update is done. This is unavoidable.
To be safe, you should reinstall all programs, even if you put them on the SD card. It's possible the installation put files needed by those programs in the phone's main memory, which would have been wiped out by the ROM update.
To get your contacts back, just re-sync them with ActiveSync (how did you get them on in the first place?)
ROM updates are a major event for these phones (they don't happen very often). So plan accordingly for this--only do it when you'll have time to completely set up your phone again from scratch.
Multi-NAI allows Sprint to tell the difference between using the internet on the phone and tethering the phone to the laptop and using the internet through it.
If you connect it to your laptop, you will be charged for it with Multi-NAI.
I have noticed ramdom turn on's has disappeared..BUT, i have my phone set to "PUSH" and everytime it sync with my exchange server OTA, the screen turns on..this is pretty dumb.
Pre-reset: MAKE SURE you have the MSL, MSID, and MDN values
Do the ##RTN# reset
allow the software customizations to install. If you don't, you won't be able to do the ## codes at all to program the phone
hit ##[msl]# and program your phone
after the soft reset go to phone, options, services, internet, and initiate IOTA, it'll connect, download settings in the background, and you'll know it's done when you see the EVDO disconnect and there's just a big EV icon there.
now your phone should be ready to dial up to evdo.
This worked perfectly. I don't know if this is the norm but my MSID and MDN were the same as my phone. THANKS!

I put all of my contacts in manually with the keyboard but now I sync with active sync. So are you saying that after I update I can just launch Active sync and it should place all of my contacts back on the phone??
I don't know about you all, but this kind of relieves me as if the settings are the same from the old ROM to the new, they still can't tell whether we're tethering or not. Besides that, I thought Multi-NAI was more than just a software feature and would never be able to be enabled on the 6700- I could be wrong on that though.
