Does anyone have any hints as to whether someone NOT using Sprint should install this update? I am on the Telus network, with a "UTStarcom 6700" (they do not use the name Audiovox).

My current ROM version is 1.04.00 WWE
ExtRom 1.04.705
ROM date 09/12/05

I'm not sure what is included with the default Sprint install, but a default install of the 6700 (after a hard reset) has:

- No junkware (really!)
- No Wifi/Phone simultaeneous limitations
- WModem works without any hacks, it's just there and available

What do you guys think?

Ideas?
When push is working that mail icon will be green, you also have to go into activesync and tell it to sync "as items arrive". With both the green mail icon and that setting direct push should be working.

Ok I got the Today Screen Wireless to come up. You need to add a new Registry key and a few other things. Here's the stuff you need to add.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Wireless"]
"Flags"=dword:00000000
"Options"=dword:00000000
"DLL"="netui.dll"
"Order"=dword:00000000
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"Type"=dword:00000004

After that soft reset and on the today screen you will have a new plugin which shows that your connected to Sprint PCS, if wifi is on or off(if on it will show the current AP you're connected to) and if bluetooth is on/off.

After you add the new key "Wireless" you then have to

Add new Dword with a name "Flags" and the value is "0"
Add new Dword with a name "Options" and the value is "0"
Add new String Value with a name "DLL" value is "netui.dll"
Add new Dword with a name "Order" and the value is "0"
Add new Dword with a name "Enabled" and the value is "1"
Add new Dword with a name "Type" and the value is "4"

I can answer incoming calls just fine.

When I push the headset button to start an outgoing call, the phone opens the phone tags window.

Are you using phone tags ?? Or did I miss something ??

Yea, I can now build DialPad skins and Custom Smardialer Skins! No more tweaking between Verizon and Sprint Smartdialer issues!

hey kokkos after installing the rom update can I still use the silver and gold files you have for the ppc 6700 to skin the dial pad or do you have to create all new skin files since smartdialer is now built in

And my God we wait for the AKU and there is no a2dp. What the F. is wrong with these people. Is there any sane reason that HTC is removing a2dp from all its devices, I mean Jesus.

I hope to God someone can come up with the patch files so we can update the bluetooth stack for a2dp. And I hope it doesnt involve another hard reset. I almost do not want to even update my phone.

Can anybody comment on the previous post that says incoming text messages to xxxx@messaging.sprintpcs.com don't work? Can someone else test this? I want to make sure this is working before I try upgrading.

What do you guys think?

You will get a vendor error when trying to install it. The only way to utilize this rom for any other vendor than sprint is a bit of hacking. It was done with the 6600, and I don't have any doubts that the knowledge gained there will allow us to do the same with the 6700.

I started another thread to discuss any of this.
