I just talked to MAD6700--he knows what he's talking about. Sounds like all our wishes are about to come true--native smartdialer and AKU2 goodies. AWESOME--more later.
That's good, because the more cynical of us could doubt someone dropping a bomb like that on the day he registers on the site. Not that I'm one of those people
If the filename is accurate, I expect the 112 refers to the PRI version. I just got a new 6700 from Telus and that's the version my PRI was from the factory. Here is the full info from my phone:
ROM Version 1.04.00 WWE
ROM Date 09/12/05
Radio Version 1.05.00
Protocol version SNAZ-40306
ExtROM version 1.04.705 WWE
Hardware version 0041
PRL version 11055
PRI version 1.12_010
Browser version MSIE 4.01
ESN.... what? You think I'm nuts?
Hope that helps some of you figure out what's coming ahead of time. Unfortunately, I don't have bluetooth devices, so I can check nothing with regards to BT functionality. I can confirm that the phone still wakes on poke from ActiveSync. Pain in the arse that is.
Todd, I'll take you up on a payable by paypal.com bet for 10.00 if you can show us a screen shot of your now and later Device Info before 10:34am 3/16.

Today 3/15/2005 -, 10:34 AM I talked to a LOCAL Sprint tech today who checked his system and gave me the FILE NAME of the update. I call that a pretty positive sign--who wants to bet my 6700 is updated within 24hrs?
Todd/Indy
For the bet.

But you'll only pay if he emails you the update, right?
I just call USTARComm they said they new of nothing of an update being released that rumor is that microsoft might issue an update but that none of thier engineers were currently working on one.
I have now called both UTS and Sprint, as follows:
1)UTStarcomm: Yes, update will be available in 2-3 weeks and is currently being tested by carriers. It includes AKU2 (acronym?), bluetooth headset fixes, #777 no modem fixes, etc. It will be available on their website when release and may include additional fixes inserted by Sprint themselves. It will NOT be avilable sooner than early Q2 and according to them there's no way that sprint will be able to release it early without UTS's blessing.
2) Sprint: Yeah, PDA support says we got an update. Only some of the Sprint (proper, as opposed to former Nextel) service centers have it and it fixes the #777 modem issue and maybe a few other things. Called my local Sprint service center and they know nothing about it...
So, alas - I honestly think they provide this mis-information purposefully to throw us off from getting it illegally, hacking it or generating a bunch of call activity before they are ready. NO ONE could be this bad at having correct, relevant information unless they are actually TRYING!!!!
Verdict: UTS and Sprint are not making much effort to improve their service quality level except to fool us into thinking they care by asking us, "Were you satisfied with the level of service I provided you today?" LOL.
