Called a different store to cross-check. They told me an update had been issued to prevent phone from randomly going into flight mode. Said they didn't have any other updates--seemed quite uninformed.

I never heard of that problem before. He he. A fix (might) be finally coming out and it fixes a problem no one seems to have. Sprint right on top of things as usual
Mostly why I find it odd, is that if it was released yesterday why is that what I currently have on my phone. Heather is a sprint store rep who sounded very cute.
Just got the call--this tech is very open and helpful. He said he can't access the update yet and that new updates are posted overnight. He also said he has a note that a "M&P" (method and procedure) is forthcoming for the update--which they haven't posted yet either. He's off tomorrow but gave me the name of another tech to contact tomorrow. He's back fri/sat/sun--by that time I bet the upgrade's old news. Still going with my original 24hrs prediction--any takers on the bet?
As for the flight mode thing, my guess is that it's a modification of the time you must hold down the end button to turn on flight mode. Many people here (myself included) have turned on flight mode inadvertantly by accidentally holding down the end button for more than a couple of seconds (or pressing it multiple times in quick succession).
So they could either lengthen the amount of time needed to activate flight mode, or change the functionality via registry to the Verizon way, where holdng down the end button only disconnects a data call (will not trigger flight mode). So in the worst case scenario (Heather being correct), it is possible to have a ROM "update" that fixes the flight mode thing by changing the registry while keeping the ROM version the same. I really doubt that is the case, but that's how it would work if it was.
While everyone's not getting any work done waiting for the word, can someone tell me what A2DP is? Also besides the "in flight mode" fix are there any other substantial updates?
I believe A2DP is a bluetooth profile that will let us do stereo via bluetooth. So you could listen to your mp3's wirelessly with bluetooth stereo headphones, or if your car stereo does bluetooth you could play music on your 6700 through your car stereo.
MAD6700, can you check the rom/radio version of your phone and see if it jibes with my filename? I won't ask for the software (even though I want it)--I'll leave that to others
I just got off the phone with sprint. They said that ther IS an update for the 6700. If I wanted it, I had to extend my contract for 2 years plus sell them my Soul!
I think I will wait.
