I have Sunnysoft. It works pretty well and it has gotten me out jams before.
I have used past versions of Sprite (haven't gotten my WM5 version yet) and I liked the interface on that a bit better.
I hear that SBH Backup is also good.
Clearly however, the self extracting .exe which I create on my storage card with Sunnysoft does work and gives me a full restoration with little effort as needed.
Sunnysoft was first for WM5 and it worked in eval copy, but I could not get any cooperation from them on how to pay so I could continue. Others had the same problem. Mostly, I think they had this language barrier and didn't understand by my explanation their link to register and pay was not working. It was like you try to get information and all they did was get louder and repeat how to do it when their own website was the problem.
Anyway, I went with Sprite and it works too. Backs me up every morning at 4 AM and reboots the system for a fresh start. I think the real question today is between Sprite and SPB. IMO, Sunnysoft is too far out in left field for me to deal with, good program but the support, I think sucks! Now, I have remnants left on my windows folder I can't get rid of. I was going to try the rom unlocker to see if that would help dump this sunnysoft files when I get some more time.
Look up the SPB product and make your comparisons.
I had issues with SunnySoft (still do - can't get rid of all the components). I was a Sprite user from WM2003 days and went back to it for WM5. Work O.K. for me.

I'm using SPB and it seems to do the job. Install was easy, and in under 2 minutes I was creating by first backup. I tested a full restore and didn't encounter any problems.
I have both (actually, I have all three). Since I password protect my phone, I found that Sprite wasn't working for me. It would soft reset before and after the backup. So a scheduled backup wouldn't start until I entered my password. Not very good... SPB stops processes but no soft reset, so it has been working for me.
I have restored from both SPB and Sprite and both worked perfectly. SPB creates a self-extracting file, Sprite doesn't. To me, that isn't a big deal.
SPB doesn't allow partial restores without using their desktop app. Sprite does.
SPB has frequent updates to many of their apps, including two already for the backup app. Sprite doesn't seem to do this and has very spotty customer service, in my experience.
I have read many posts about Sunnysoft not restoring all settings or email accounts, but I never tried a restore with it on my phone.
