Animated Themes on WM5 - how much resources will they take up??

So it looks like Animated Themes will now work on WM5.0 devices. I only have a few apps running (SPB Pocket Plus and PhoneAlarm) and am wondering how much of a hog these themes will be. What do you guys think?

Keri

I guess that the possibility exists for an animated theme to be a resource hog. It would depend on how it is animated (GIF vs. Flash) and how intense the animation was.

*UPDATE*

I decided to try one of these themes and my resources were hardly changed (good thing), however it seems that the animated gif file that is used is just pushed to the bottom of the page. I tried adding and removing the items from my Today screen, but the placement of the gif file is never correct and just moves up and down the screen.

May I ask what kind of file is it? Is it a TSK file? I wonder how it is done since it claims it doesn't require any additional software

I took a quick look at it with WinCE Cab Manager and it doesn't look like it's an actual animated theme...it looks like it's just a today screen plugin what displays an animated GIF. So if you move the plugin anywhere beside the bottom of the screen, it will look messed up like Keri said.

Do any of you guys know if files/plugins can be layered like in Photoshop? Somehow send the gif to the back most layer and dock it at the bottom of the screen.

You would think this developer would have tested this before marking it as "WM5 Ready"

I don't think it's possible since it's a today plugin. It's like your other plugins like phoneAlarm or SPB P+. It goes on top of the background pic.

So I sent phonethemes.com an email yesterday regarding the animated themes not working on WM 5.0. I expect my money back or at least a fix for the software. I haven't received a response but will keep you guys posted. It's too bad, I liked the theme. Don't waste your money.
