Does anybody else have this happen. My wife warned me one day that I called her and she could hear the conversation that I was having. I never dialed her.
Another time, I heard my voice mail prompt. I never called voice mail.
Most recently, I've had a couple of very strange "automatic calls". I've been using my bluetooth headset a lot, and all of the sudden, I hear ringing, and somebody answers. Apparently, my phone just decided to call them, and this time since I had the headset in, I actually heard the rings and heard the person answer. Of course I had to apologize, and then I hung up.
This last one was very strange because with this one, I am 100% sure that I did nothing to initiate the call. I was driving down the road and my phone was laying on the console between the two front seats and I had my headset in. Suddenly, I heard the ringing in my headset and my wife answered.
This magical calling is going to get me in trouble one day soon if I can't figure out how to make it stop. Does anybody have an idea what's going on?
No, and the only real add-on I've got is VeriChat. I do have cerdisp and Total Commander, but they aren't running at all. Also, I do have ActiveSync and I receive "pushed" email from my Exchange Server.
This has been covered a few times (Search) but your phone is probably turning itself on to check for new emails and such, and when wearing it you may have bumped something. as for the call from the dashboard, that is a problem. Locking the screen, or using a 3rd party app. to lock the phone is a possibility.
I did search, and as I said it called out without being touched while resting on the console. It didn't bump into anything while it was lying there. One other thing. The display never turned on.
Hmmm...well, I never meant to sound like I actually knew anything! No, seriously, I think the guys who support Wisebar say it'll keep this from happening. And you can change settings in the phone so it doesn't automatically check in for new emails and such, but I'm afraid I'm not being as helpful as I started out to try to be. Sorry, Man.
This happened to me like 4 times in one day.. and only happened on that day for the most part. It was strange, I had my phone in the holster and all the sudden I hear talking so I take it out and look and I am connected to someone. I quickly hung up and put my phone in standby and slid it in my holster. Then I noticed the backlight come on so I take it out and look and sure enough its dialing someone. This time I hit end and powered the phone off and just set it down. It again tried to dial someone.. I let the call go through and talked for a minute and then hung up.. after that it didnt do it.
I think my phone was just lonely or something I also worry that this is going to get me in some serious trouble some day. I make sure not to talk bad about my woman in the presence of my PPC
I use mortsaver to prevent this from happening in my holster but it seems that it can still manage to happen once in a while. I personally feel that my problem is with the bluetooth hack. Being that the headset never actually disconnects after a call I think sometimes something gets funny and the phone thinks the headset initiated a call back. This would seem to make sense because it is one of the very few things that can take your phone out of suspend if you set mortsaver to not wake for all of the other events.

Almost positive that an event is turning the unit on and the call button or touch screen are clicking and making a call.
Go to start-->settings-->Password Set a simple password like 0000.
Suspend your phone.. Now unless its an application doing something VERY strange your phone should not be able to dial untill you have unlocked it.
You can still answer the phone with the answer button when a call comes in.
I use mortsaver myself so its pretty unlikely. It would have to come out of suspend.. hit my mort deactivate button and then hit the talk button twice.
Like I said.. it only happened to me that one day for the most part. Ive had it happen before but rarely and random. This particular day my BT headset was being funny and I had this problem. Im pretty sure it had something to do with communications between the headset and the unit. A press and hold on the BT headset is the one thing that CAN take my phone out of suspend AND make a call.
The reason your phone is turning on is probably because you are using a phone holster that has a magnet on it....this turns the phone on, i had the same problem and the solution was buying a holster that had no magnet, worked like a charm, you dont need to run stupid programs or lock your screen.
Actually, when it was sitting in the console, it wasn't in any case at all. When I use a case, it's the one that came with the phone. The last two times this happened, I was using my bluetooth headset. I was wondering if the call didn't get terminated properly, and the phone decided to call the number back as a favor to me.
First and foremost, great job to the moderators and posters on this sight. I have never read, nor posted, to any forum ever before. Great job to everyone on the sight for making it so great.
Now, onto business. I had this problem as well. I tried mortsaver, but it slowed my system. What I noticed is that as the phone switches between EVDO and 1X or whatever, the phone will automatically turn on. By setting a password for the phone, setting it to 0 minutes, and putting the baclight setting to 1 minute, will save you alot of trouble.
You cant stop the phone from coming on, that will be fixed in a ROM update. However, you can prevent mistaked phone calls and loss of battery by taking these steps. Hope this helps!
It's all the fault of the little navigation stick!
I have the 6700 only a week, and I got a call from a friend that my phone had gone off and called several times. I saw a post that it has something to do with cases with magnets. Actually, it has everything to do with the case.
It mostly happens after you take/make a call, hang up, and put the phone back in the case with the dialer app still open. It's the little nav stick, it sticks up over the top of the PDA, and the hard sides of the case easily push the button in if you lean on the case! You can actually hear the click! OMG what a BAD design move.
I'm only now trying different workarounds, but clearly if that phone dialer app is up, a simple click of the stick and the last number you talked to is redialed. It seems the app stays closed when receiving a call, so it's at least important to remember to close the app before putting it into your holster or laying face down.
For the first time since I started using this amazing device I found myself contemplating a rush back to the store to return it before my 14 days is up - this is THAT bad. Total personal privacy lost if this thing just dials and anyone can listen in. I used to get calls from a friend whose phone was rattling around her purse, and I'd listen in for minutes on end just giggling thinking what was doing. I could hear parts of faint convos. So, I'm now scaring myself about this.
Best I can suggest is boring a hole in the case so the pointer sticks through. Check out the pics on the Verizon plastic holster - they had the problem figured out! http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68011
Or, is there a hack to whack the redial from that nav stick?
This is bad and it happens all the time to me. It is "locked" but once a notification arrives it unlocks itself. Then a bump and the phone will dial. The Treo never unlocked even with notices. Come on Audiovox get with the program. I like the password idea and plan to give that a try. There is a small program that locks the phone and will not unlock until two buttons are pressed. However I almost didn't get out of the locked condition so I don't plan to use the program again. I wish there was a better lock program out there.

im starting to think this is soley a ppc 6700 problem, because my xv 6700 does not have that problem. Make sure you do not have a magner on your holster, or keep the phone near any magnets on your clothing, magnets will turn you phone on!!
I set a password on mine and was not able to answer the phone until I typed in the password which was annoying. How do the rest of you answer without typing in the password???
