pocket outlook not doing automatic send/receive, notification sounds not playing

I have 2 email accounts, hotmail POP & IMAP. I have set the imap to check for new emails every 5 minutes and the hotmail to automatic . however it doesn't seem to be working. I have to open the mail and hit send/receive.

also, I have sounds assigned to missed call, email & such, buut they don't play

My hotmail has never retrieved mail without me hitting send/receive. I have it set to automatic. Haven't had time to start trying to troubleshoot it.

make sure your sounds are in .wav format otherwise they wont work search around for ways to compress wav files to make them smaller

A couple of the sounds are from the voice recorder of the phone. Does that record in .wav format?

Same with me. I added a Yahoo pop3 account. It'll update manually, but it does not update automatically, even though it's set to check every 15 minutes.

My Exchange account updates as it should.

So this just a really huge glaring bug that should have been worked out by version 5.0? Or can it be corrected?

I have experimented a lot with this. It appears that the messaging client will only honor that "auto send/receive" option for "current" account. If you set the auto/receive to 1 minute or something, then go to the Menu | Switch Accounts and select the account you want to auto receive. Then it will work, but only for that account.

It's been working fine for me for over a week now.

Be careful of this gotcha. This really pissed me off for a while. If you click the pocket msn link on the today screen to get to the messaging client, it will "auto switch" accounts to the Hotmail account.

If you run the messaging client from the start menu, it will not do that. That's my experience anyway.

I could go into how I have all my email going to this one account I have setup, but that's a long story.

Joe

Send a message via AIM to Andrewp75

Has anyone found a workaround to this other than the new rom?

Thanks!

A
