How do you: Install from a extract a .Cab File from a Windows-based install program?

How do you: Install from a extract a .Cab File from a Windows-based install program? I'm setting up a reinstallation folder on my storage card. I have a number of programs (e.g. Netfront) that install through Activesync. I need to extract the .CAB files so I can install from the storage card.

I tried WinRAR to extract them, but it didn't seem to work. What I extracted in the Netfront example, were two .CAB's called "data 1" and "data 2" that wouldn't install from the storage card.

I'm sure this has been talked about on this forum at some point, but I'm not able to find it. Maybe I'm using the wrong search terms.

Would love some direction from someone(s) in the know!

Thanks!

Check your PC's \program files\microsoft activesync folder to see if the cabs are there. Most of the time you'll find it in there...if not, check one folder up (program files folder)

Thanks hamsup1o!

You would think that after four years and three PPC's I'd remember stuff like this! Here's a follow-up question:

I am working on copying over my TCPMP cabinet file from my PC. In the folder I have three different versions of the .arm file.

tcpmp.arm720_ce3
tcpmp.arm_ce2
tcpmp.arm_ce3

Which to use?

Also, what would be the name/location for Microsoft's .net framework 2, for use with WiFiFoFUm? I'm having trouble locating that one...

Thanks!

for TCPMP, it's the 3rd one on your list. I believe the first one also work. It just has a different CPU identifier added to it.

Fantastic! You're a great help. I love that you're online most of the time I am, and are so fast in answering! Thanks!

I've been searching for about 45 minutes looking for the Microsoft Compact .Net Framework 2.0 .CAB, and am coming up short. Starting to get frustrated. I think it is the last .CAB I need.

If you installed CF 2.0 before on your PC, it should be in your C:\Program Files\Microsoft.NET\SDK\CompactFramework\v2.0\WindowsCE\wce500\armv4i folder...yeah, it's hidden pretty deep.

To be honest, I can't find a directory for Microsoft.net on my c:\drive.

Don't know why. I've installed this program. I remembered that it comes packaged with a few other freeware programs I've downloaded in the past.

I downloaded pocket e-sword for PPC, which is one of those bundles. So I have the .CAB file now.

Thanks for the assistance! Hope it helps someone else in the future!
