The black rubber part inside the joystick came off earlier last week. It's amazing how much you can miss it and its tactile feedback. With a spark of creativity, I went to the mall and bought one of those crystal gem sticker thingie that some people are putting on their phone (sometimes with tacky taste). Surprisingly, the piece fits perfectly into the hole and it really looks like it belongs there. What do you think? Note: The black smudge on the ring of the joystick probably resulted from the black rubbery part. Oh well.
...Wow. Next you need to wire an LED into the back of the joystick so it glows. You'll have one of the first case-modded 6700s. I probably would have just gone with adhesive rubber, but I suppose a gem can work as well. Maybe a trend just got started :-p
whoa chill, fruitcakes. it's not like i'm using a pink stone here; one little piece of bling is not gay, especially since it looks like it belongs there. not all of us are aspiring techies nor businessmen. nothing wrong with having a bit of style as long as it's not tacky or tasteless. plus, it looks better in real life and i've gotten good compliments for it.

I gotta say, Man...with some of the dorky crap I've put on phones and PDA's in the past, that looks as good or better as anything I've seen. I can't count the number of quirky ringtones and geeky wallpapers and themes I've used/seen in my days (up to and including the Stargate SG-1 background I'm using right now). And all the 'haters' out there know they have a skeleton or two in thier phone/PDA closets as well, so do what you like, and like what you do.
I tried a gold-yellow color, to match the sprint sign and didn't like it. The clear diamond looks best for me. I haven't tried red or blue, but I'm sure they would look pretty good though. If you see the gem in real life, you'd definitely think it suppose to go there =0)
I think I may have to do something like this because I do not like the rubber way.. it is to slippery and makes it seem harder to be sure I have pressed a direction.. currently I pull against the edge of the chrome and not the black so I can get some grip.
Have you noticed that it grabs your finger better so you get nice solid movements?
