Does anyone besides me get shocked by their phone? Whys this happen?

Ok well I have had the phone for about one month and it seems that about 1 out of 10 times when I put the phone on the cradle I get shocked. It feels like a static shock but its pretty big. Its not fun! I put the phone on the cradle once when the lights in the room were off and when it shocked me I saw where my finger touched the phone there was a flash. It wasnt real bright but you can see it jump from the phone to my finger. I also notice when it is in my pocket and I touch something metel I will get the regular static shock that everyone gets day to day but Im getting it a lot more then I did before I got this phone. I know this sounds REALLY stupid but im not joking. I hope someone else can support me and say it happens to them also. Why does this happen though? Thanks

Its VERY dry in my house right now.. I have had it happen with the cradle a few times now.. If I have a humidifier running it doesn't happen. Then again lite switches or anything grounded is giving me a zap these days.. Going to have to look at getting a central humidity control unit at this rate.. I hate getting zapped in my house.

You're just grounding yourself to the shielding on the USB cable. Try touching your computer's case first.

if this thing shocked me i would be terrified - lol.

i've never been shocked before but of course i'm in miami where the humidity is typically 100%...can't recall shocking myself with static electricity very often at all around here...gonna thing twice about bringing my phone to colorado with me next time i go, lol.

This happens to me about once a week or so. It happens at work when I cradle my 6700 to my usb hub. All devices in the hub reset when this happens (by that I mean the computer looses connection to all devices momentarrily).

Lightbulb

Yes, it happens to me occasionally. But it's winter here in Wisconsin and static electricity is everywhere! If I pet my dog, he'll give me a static electricity shock. One option is to purchase a humidifier for that particular room. It helps a lot and will likely eliminate most/all of the static shocks you're getting.

I have been shocked by my bill but never my phone.... you might also want to be carefull and ground yourself first like the other person said. The charges dont have a ground so you risk frying the phone. Usualy it just erases the memory but who knows what it could do. If you ground yourself first and it still happens then its comeing from the phone and id be worried about the charger itself and check the home wireing.
