what folder do I place ringtones in??

So I'm sure my first post will more than show my ignorance. I was hoping to add my own .wav files to the ringtones folder. My problem is that I cannot find the folder to do so. I have had this phone for a day and so I apologize for my ignorace. I have also done a lot of searches on the forum, both in moving files and ringtones and they all assume a higher level of knowledge than I apparently have.

My problem, in ActiveSync when I explore my device I do get folders that come up, but not one of them is the Rings folder??? I have disabled the firewalls to the device, made the exceptions, etc. When I explore I do get folders to come up; however, most contain nothing. I do have a sounds folder, but it just has a dog bark (I assume standard) and none of the ringtones that are on the phone.

I apologize for such a basic question, but I had no help from Verizon support and I can't find my answer with the search function...anyone care to point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

to find the windows/ring folder on your device you need to click start than go to control panel click on folder options and in click the view tab and look for hidden files and folders click the show hidden files and folders and you should now be able to see the windows/ring folder on your device.

On top of that...

How come when I have a .wav file, it says that the WMP can't play it? Are there special file settings that need to be used?

8 bit mono seems to work, but I don't know what else might work.

I am using mp3 files as ringtones and they work perfectly.

Make sure in ActiveSync after you click on "Explore", you select the "My Windows Mobile-Based Device" folder. Then go to "Application Data" and the "Sounds" subfolder. This is where you should store your ringtones.

Hope this helps.
