cannot get m4p ringtone to play

I downloaded a ringer, moved it to Windows/Rings, but it doesn't show up on my ring tones in phone settings. I get a error code when I try and open it that says there is no application associated with... Run the application first, then open this file from within the application.
This is my first PDA phone, so I'm still not sure what I'm doing. Any help on how to get this working and where to find ringtones at would be appreciated. Thanks!

first off what is the format of the file you "downloaded" secondly where did you "download" said ringer from was it a ringer website? what i think happened is you "downloaded" the gdc file that calls up the actual ringer file from the server...this phone doesnt support "downloading" of ringtones...images...etc from ringer sites like those 3gsites
