2.5mm Adapter that enables 6700 internal mic??

yes I did a search and came up with several sites and examples, and I tried alot of them so far and none of them work

I tried the one from boxwave and it doesnt work. I can hear sound from it fine but my mic on my phone is disabled

I tried the seido retractable one, but that one has its own mic and the mic causes alot of echo

the ppctechs one here http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~un...PPCPADPT15.htm says may not work with the internal mic of the 6700, so is there any point getting this one?

And the one from expansys does not work on the 6700 either

is there anyone that is just a short cable that outputs stereo while still letting me use the ppc 6700s internal mic at the same time? Anyone who has used one that definately works and which you have actually used with your internal ppcs mic to make calls as the ones I tried as recoomended by forum members definately do not work and I already spent 60+ dollars on adapters that do not function like I want them too

Sorry, don't have any suggestions for you. What you're looking for may also be the solution to a problem I have with this phone. I use a cassette adapter and a 2.5mm adapter to play audio from the phone over my car's stereo. The problem is I can't take calls (the other party can't hear me) or use MS Voice Command with this setup. Would the adapter that you're looking for solve these problems?

You guys would need a custom type 2.5mm y-adapter that splits the audio and mic to their own seperate connections and you would then also need to use an external mic. As far as I can tell there is no way to tell the phone to use the internal mic when a 2.5mm cable is plugged into it.

I noticed this same problem as well yesterday when I had the phone in my Seidio 4500m cradle. While it is plugged in there is no way to use the internal mic. Luckily it does split up the signal to separate mic and audio out jacks so I can use an external mic easily.

I cant seem to find a "4500m" at the Seidio site. Can you give more detail? If this has an external mic setup, then that would work perfectly, right?

I don't have one, so I can't answer questions. I was just recently looking at the website, so I knew where it was.

If you are going to use a cassette adapter or fm transmitter you can save $10 and get the 4100M instead. The 4100M does not include the internal speaker. You can see it here

Seidio offers two mdels of car kit that have the external mic capability

1) G4500M
2) G4100M

Both have the audio output and the external microphone.

G4500M has the built in speaker and G4100M does not have the built in speaker. If you plan to use car stereo, then use G4100M.

Seidio is working on Y mic/speaker adaptor for PPC-6700. You still need the external microphone. Or you can use Seidio 3.5 mm adaptor type 2 in1 headset.

What about the reverse of this situation? I'd like to be able to swap back and forth with my headphones from my PCC onto my Laptop; is there a plug adaptor into which we can plug the earbud microphone which gets it into separate headphone / microphone plugs? I use Skype on my 6700 all the time and the earbuds work great, it would be nice to go both ways as it were.

David, if you guys are working on a y-adapter could you also consider making a y-adapter that will allow a standard cell phone headset to be plugged into the audio out/mic ports on 4500M/4100M cradle so that both the earbud and microphone function as normal?

ok seido, are you absolutely sure! if I get that adapter it will let me use the internal mic of my ppc 6700. Have you tested it and are you certain? I ordered one similar to that one from you guys in the past and it DOES NOT enable it. Is this one different? If so I will be ordering it right away

This sounds pretty good, but I hate being a guinea pig. (lol)

To mcq3000:
Will you be using this with a car stereo cassette adaptor? If so, do you mind posting your results here? Thanks in advance!

Just bought one too. I see the one referenced that does not enable internal mic is cheaper.

Also ordered the 4100 cradle. (Need stereo and I have a stereo mini ready to go from my sound system input)

Once I debug the tomtom GPS software on my wife's Treo700, I'll be looking for a 4100 for her car and the treo as well. I like your design and appreciate your being here David.

For those who ordered this thing and will post their opinions of it, please also provide information on how 2.5mm male end fits/sits in the connector on the 6700. I have tried 3 different 2.5 to 3.5 mm connectors on this thing and none of them seem to seat right, in there. some I had to pull out a little, some I couldn't even find a good way to make it be stable.

Thanks,
Joe

So what's the wiring difference with the new adapter that enables the internal mic? I imagine these things aren't too complicated - what was the trick?
