I love the app - but with my current setup its not as reliable as I would like it to be. At the present the SLING does not support Windows Media 2005 - so Orb is all I have. Folks that are using ORB and streaming to their 6700 can you share your PC confi and what apps you use in ghte 6700 with best results?
You don't need anything special to do it. Just go to Orb's site and download the software, install it on your media center PC, and follow the setup instructions. Then you just use IE on your PPC6700 to go to http://my.orb.com and log in. Then choose some media (say a TV program) and it will launch Media Player and start playing.
If you have issues, check out the forums at orb.com. They should be able to get you up and running.
We have a couple Orb employees in this thread that are willing to help with any specific questions that you may have. Feel free to use their knowledge.
Orb is still VERY MUCH a beta product. If I use it througout the day, I'm guaranteed to find crash reports on my PC when I get home. I have a fairly robust system (Athlon 64 3000+ and 1GB RAM), so I know I'm not stressing the system.
Playback is fairly reliable, though it seems it is a real crap shoot with every new release. Half of the releases I've installed in the last 2 months have completely broken playback, forcing me to revert to an older build. I finally got a hack to work on my PPC6700 that allows mp3 playlists to stream to WMP10 without issue (see Bushrod's Orb Tricks thread). But I still occasionally get glitches and stutters.
I'm hoping someday it will be more reliable, but for now I can't complain - it works most of the time, and it is free. I wish it worked with commercial players such as PocketMusic, but it doesn't. And I don't really like TCPMP all that much (Horrible UI), so I stick with WMP, for better or worse.
Must be software conflicts, never had Orb crash on my Pentium IV, any version, and I have more than a dozen programs running with it, lord only knows how many processes are at any given time. There will always be server bandwidth problems to cause performance issues , till we all switch to Sling boxes..

I found a winTV togo card for really really cheap at a local store that was going out of business. I'm not sure if its supported, but it was so cheap I didn't care if it was or not. Worse comes to worse I'll put it in another machine.
My problem is when I try to 'configure' the TV settings, I can't get past the first screen. The first screen asks if you use a cable box, and if so what type of input. I do not have a cable box so I select that option and click next. A new window tries to open, but then it doesn't appear or respond.
I'm running an AMD 3200 with 512mb of mem running XP pro SP2.
Now I just uninstalled my current build and tried to install the lastest build. I keep getting a Error while trying to write a bunch of the files.... Ahhhh! I searched both here and orb's forum. Couldn't find help. Any ideas?
I pulled the card out and installed it, along with orb, onto another PC. Both installs went great. Loging in through my.orb.com produces a "No local TV found". I'm guessing the WinTVtogo isn't supported.
I started this thread looking for "BEST 6700 series ORB SETUPS" - as I think everyone would agree that ORB, the IDEA is fantastic but like another poster said its still BETA. I find that sometimes I can stream some of my content from my Media Center PC - and other times I can not. I also have had it crash my system on several occasions like most folks.
My Setup -
I'm using the Gateway 610 Media Center PC (http://reviews-zdnet.com.com/Gateway...-30565073.html) - upgraded to Media Center 2005. I did a clean install of XP Media Center 2005 and all of my Media Center functions work like a charm. I installed the latest version of ORB (1 week ago) and from a laptop I am able to use just about every feature of Orb - including streaming live tv (it just all of a sudden started working as I typed this note...). BUT - When I try to stream recorded or live programs from my 6700 its really HIT or MISS. If I get it to stream the recorded program I can NEVER fast forwad - if I do it gives me a connection error (looks like this is a known bug/ no fix?). I'm using Windows Media 10 on the 6700.
I'm looking for folks who are using their 6700 as the CLIENT and would like to know best practices -
IE _ Like using a particular browser - or not using Windows' Media Player 10 - or do you have to have the Always-On EVDO hack to get reliable streaming results?
I picked up a Sling Box - but I really prefer the ORB interface much better because it does a great job integrating into Windows Media Center.
