there are no cons whatsever. some may say the screen is bigger, but that just means less dpi, the resolution is the same. it has a more stable os, its just as fast, there is no backup battery to worry about, netter bluetooth, better one handed operation, 3g wifi, the list goes on

A big con for some people is the 6700 has only a mini-sd slot versus full sd slot on the 6600. if you're only using it for memory cards, there's no difference. However, I use an sd camera with Microsoft Portrait so giving that up was a big problem for me.
6600 has a larger screen. Other than that, the 6700 is the better choice. I switched because I sent my 6600 in to be fixed and Sprint replaced it with a 6700. With the 6700 you have EVDO, a better keyboard and it fits better in my hand. It also feels better when using it as a phone. The 6600 is rather large and awkward.
The different memory card is annoying though because now I have to go out and buy another one.

Some, if not most, mini SD cards come with a "sleeve" that allows you to put the mini SD card into a regular size SD card slot. I have a 512mb Sandisk mini SD card and I can transfer files into my digital camera and/or card reader for my PC.
just got my 6700 yesterday the same way. 6600 lost its mind with random hard resets, and sprint didn't have any left, so they gave me a free upgrade. i initially told them i wanted to do some research and make sure the 6700 would be okay (as if i really had a choice), my main concern being the screen size.
got it yesterday and couldn't be happier. the screen is so much sharper, it more than makes up for the smaller size. i don't think it's technically higher resolution, but it seems like it, i guess the pixels are smaller maybe? anyway, i switched the fonts to the smallest readable size, and everything seems to be proportionally the same. I use outlook web access on it (corporate only allows for corporate issued blackberries and those are no fun and almost defunct), and that can be tough to deal with on a small screen, but i'm very pleased with it.
Oh yeah, evdo changes everything too! OWA really sucked under 1x, but it was functional. now it's almost like being at home. and i doubt the 6600's ever would have seen evdo anyway.
another big pro for me is the seidio car kit, which allows you to plop it in and be instantly charging and hooked into the stereo via the headphone port on the bottom. I had a proclipusa.com kit with the 6600, worked great but had to dig the headphone plug out from under the seat, pull the little rubber plug out of the 6600's headphone jack with a fingernail, and plug in manually. Pretty tough to do when driving, almost spilled my beer several times
probably repeating what you've read several times, but i just went through your debate for the same reasons. just do it, you'll be happy
oh yeah, it does suck having to buy all new cards. chargers, etc., but that's the cost of being THIS cool (and thank god for ebay)
- it has a lot more hardware buttons
- it has an on-screen indicator for the Shift and Alt keys
- it has an internal antenna (read: no hassle on airplanes)
- it has a fantasic aftermarket extended battery which doesn't stick out like a sore thumb
- its screen is easier to read and is much more finger friendly due to the larger size
- it uses WM2003SE, and therefore has a much larger base of usable applications available. That will change over time, but it's been pretty slow going to get apps designed for WM5
Believe me, I was one of the first to dump the 6600 for the 6700, mainly due to EV-DO (and not so much for the high speed but for the ability for incoming calls to interrupt an active data session) and the physical size of the handset. I want to carry around a phone-sized PDA, not a PDA-sized phone. I tolerated the size of the 6600 because I didn't really have a choice (and at least is was smaller than the H-U-G-E Hitachi G1000). But I knew that as soon as Sprint released a Treo-sized WM device I would switch to it.
if you end up unhappy, you'll get a lot more for a reasnoably up to date 6700 on ebay than you would have gotten for an outdated 6600. If you can live with it for a few months, you could upgrade again. Another thought I had is that since this is a "new" 6700, maybe i'll get lucky again and have a failure right at phase out time, and get a free upgrade again. that's why i pay $5 to insure.
My 6600 seemed to be quite a bit faster than my 6700 on Verizon. Other than that the 6700's form factor won it for me! I already had EVDO on my 6600 so no big change here.
Come to think of it I have a 6600 next to my 6700 --- and my 66 runs circles around my 6700. Boot-UP time - etc... the list goes on.
Bottom line for me -
1 - Better BT
2 - Better form factor

Yep, I forgot about that one. One of the few advantages of running everything from RAM is the access time. Everything is a lot snappier.
Here's hoping they use faster flash ram in future WM5-based devices.
good points. having been through a lot of hard resets and flying blind until i could get back to the office to sync again, i'll trade speed for more reliability though.
and then later when they are using faster flash in new models, I'll have an excuse to buy another new toy...
I have been on my 6700 for months now. I sold my 6600 to my cousin and just saw it again the other day for the first time in months. I miss that large screen, it was also much brighter and more vibrant than the 6700 screen. I also miss the thickness of the 6600. But otherwise I am happy with my 6700 and EVDO.
I have an opportunity for a free upgrade from my XV6600 to an XV6700. I was wondering if any of you could give me your advice on whether I should do it.
What I am concerned about is mainly the screen size on the XV6700...I love the big screen on the XV6600, which displays my busy calendar on the Today screen via the "Pocket Breeze" application, and is great for web browsing. On the other hand, I am annoyed with the "screen whine" on my 6600, and the fact that it occassionaly does a hard reboot, causing me to re-load certain apps.
The version of bluetooth on the 6600 seems to cause some interference, and was wondering if this is better on the 6700? Does Windows Mobile 5 give you more options to back up applications into ROM in case of a hard reboot?
Have any of you made the transition from the 6600 to the 6700? Did you decide not to do the transition? I would love to hear some advice.
