Wrong Area Code gets autofiiled in when entering new Contact

Anyone else encountered this problem (feature.. hah) when entering in new contacts?

When I select an empty phone field, it displays the area code (425) for some reason. It looks like this is an autofill feature that completes the area code for you automatically, so you only have to type in a 7 digit phone number. I'm not sure what could be causing it to display 425 as it is not my area code. It makes me want to think that this phone is a refurb, but given the fact that this is a brand new verizon product, I am doubting that...

I'm sure I'm missing something easy here....

Just go to Contacts, Menu, Options...there you can change the default area code. I think 425 is always the default, so it doesn't mean yours was a refurb.

Thanks, a ton. I was ready to drive to North Washington (area code 425) .... I wonder if thats where these were made... or maybe the software engineers are there?

Just something to ponder over for half a minute.

I think it's just Bill Gates' continued quest to rule the world ...

Area Code 425 = Redmond, Washington = Microsoft World Headquarters

If you use multiple area codes, leave it blank and it will no longer try to add it for you.
