Question if you add contact photo on 6700, will it sync back to PC??

If you add a contact photo to your xv6700 Outlook Contacts program ... and you synchronize to your PC ... does the photo get synchronized onto your PC? Can you access the photo via Outlook on your PC? Finally, are you using a Microsoft Exchange Server to sync?

Thanks in advance!

You don't need to use Exchange for contact photos to sync. They should sync just fine via the normal desktop ActiveSync Contacts conduit.

I had no prolems with the photo contacts sync'n up to outlook with pictures included, It was when I blew out the contacts on my PPC (via a hard rest) and then tried to sync my contacts back down to my ppc from outlook. The contacts all came over except the ones with a photo assigned. wierd. Active Sync 4.1 and Outlook 2003.

Due to work, my xv6700 has to be setup to sync utilizing an Exchange Server (not to a single PC). That is the only thing I can think of that would possibly prevent this. Perhaps the Exchange Server has to be specifically setup to pass those photos as Outlook fields?

Thanks. I'm using ActiveSync 4.1, as well. But...are you syncing to a remote MS Exchange Server (e.g., at your work). That's how mine is set up. I do NOT sync to my local PC (although I am connected via USB to a local PC).

If you are synchronizing using a MS Exchange Server, did you have to do anything to allow the syncing of photos? (e.g., asking your IT to specifically set up the Exchange Server to allow the photos to pass as Outlook fields)? Thanks much!

Yes, I'm syncing to a remote Exchange server (Exchange Activesync). There's nothing special that needs to be done on the server or your phone, the Exchange server must be 2003 SP2, however.

Thank you for the info. I'll check the Exchange server version. Any other ideas? Thanks much!

That's probably the culprit. Exchange 2003 SP2 was just released a month or so ago. Many IT exchange admins don't roll out service packs that quickly (since they could possibly break more things than they fix). Once your exchange admin applies SP2 your contact photos should sync.

I would have to disagree, because for exchange 2003 to work at all you must have SP2 installed,,(providing the person is using OTA sync)

I'm sorry but you're wrong. OTA sync works just fine with:

Exchange 2000 (with Mobile Information Server add-on)
Exchange 2003 RTM
Exchange 2003 SP1
Exchange 2003 SP2

Perhaps you were thinking of the new http push functionality, which does indeed require Exchange 2003 SP2.

Same thing happened to me... anyone know why?
