I have had the Verizon XV6700 for about a week and Verizon's online account manager says I have already chewed up 353MB of data. Granted, I do about 2-3 hrs of streaming audio per day (64-160kbps, depending on which stream), chat on AIM and do a fair bit of web surfing. I don't do a whole lot of email downloading because it seems that Pocket Outlook doesn't do HTML mail. Seems this phone just begs you to get your money's worth on the unlimited data plan, that's for sure. Looks like I'm on pace for a bit over a gig or so this month, which I don't think is ridiculous for a WM5 phone. Anyone else have any idea how much data they're using on their phones?
I usually use about 150 - 200 Mb. I don't do any streaming content though. I use mainly email (you're right, no html email in POutlook) retrieving every two hours, Web browsing with NetFront, NewsBreak (downloads once or twice a day), PocketWeather (updates every 2 hours or so).

Just browsing here can eat up a fair bit of data... seems that opera pulls down about 300kB per page load. I would assume that Verizon won't consider 1-2gb per month as excessive usage. I don't see how they would.
I do about 500-900mb a month in data on verizon with my xv6700 (or at least going to be this first month here) So thats about right. But we pay for it so, i have no worries. love orb, internet radio, and EVDO.
Does Sprint have any way for us to monitor our data useage?
Yes they definately know how much data, the only real question is if the can tell whether or not one is teathering on the 6700 or if they will be able to in the future if one gets the ROM upgrade.

without using 3rd party software i know of only one way:
enter ##786# on the phone keypad to enter the phones system menu. The life timer will be shown for both talktime and data. You will just have to remember how much you were up to at the start of the month and do a little subtraction.

I read his question wrong, I am glad you answered it correctly.
Seems that 1-2GB is about the norm for those of us on EVDO, then. Having EVDO, a full blown browser and GSPlayer just makes it impossible for me NOT to chew up data like it's nobody's business. I haven't toyed with orb yet but I might have to check that out.
1,640,398,000 bytes since Nov. 27ish, 2005. So, 850 meg a month. Pretty light use for me, but haven't downloaded much using my phone. I usually save that for home.
I kinda wonder how much data one would have to use before Verizon or Sprint would say something to you about excessive data usage. I mean, granted there's only so much data one COULD use on such a small screen device but still. I don't really feel like trying, that's for sure.
