You will more than likely find the 6700 (by the way it's xv not vx) to be slower than the 6600 due to it using the new WM5 memory architechture, which depends a lot more on (slower) flash RAM. It does have a slightly newer, faster processor but in the real world I wouldn't say it's faster.
I think reception is better than the 6600, but not by much (and the 6600 was no slouch either). This is a very subjective thing.
Wmodem can be used but you have to do a couple of steps to make it happen.
There are threads here that cover most of this stuff. Just read up a bit and I'm sure you'll find everything you need to make an informed decision.
