How to Enable Picture Mail (MMS) on non-Verizon 6700s Thread
This is the application installer from the XV6700 ext rom. Yes it has been posted previously I am sure but let's get it in one thread and get it working.
Go into messages and you have a new option MMS. If you check out the MMS Configuration you can add a new server. I am not really sure what sprints settings are I've tried putting in
I would think we just send a Picture Mail message to a normal email address you can view the full headers on... that should reveal the server, or at least a good place to start looking...
you dont need picture mail with this phone, simply setup a gmail account and use it to send pics. When you take a pic and scroll to send select gmail and send it. Make sure you hit send/receive. If you use exchange it goes automatically.

... it's about figuring out what the MMS address is for OTHER phones to be able to use it.
1. PictureMail hangs on the Sprint PPC6600 and eventually forces you do do a soft reset (at least on my device).
2. This is a quote from the Sprint|Nextel PictureMail site:
Quote:
Q. Why can't I send pictures to another carrier (Cingular, Verizon, TMobile)?
A. Sprint is currently working with other carriers to enable this feature. We will be providing updates on the Picture Mail website as these take place
3. This a another quote from the Sprint|Nextel PictureMail site:
Quote:
You can now send pictures, video, audio and text messages to more friends than ever.
Sprint PCS Picture Mail is compatible with the following carriers: USA
Verizon
T-Mobile
Cingular (Orange and Blue)
Qwest
Virgin Mobile
Dobson
International
Rogers Wireless (Canada)
Bell Mobility (Canada)
Fido (Canada)
wow this is cool as hell. Ok guys we need to figure this out for us sprint users, if it works on the 6600 maybe some of the uses can help us out? So does the mms app on verizons 6700 work flawlessly and do u think all we will need to do is find the server to be able to do this?
I sent a test message to myself just out of curiousity as to how it would view on the ppc6700. It sent flawlessly. I received a "high priority" text stating i received new picture mail. The MMS message comes back to the 6700 as picturemail and you have to access it through IE. I also sent one to an a900 with powervision. Its been about 20 minutes and it has not received the message yet. I guess time will tell.
Wow! This is the first I've heard of any of this. Loaded it up on mine, so far sent a message to myself and it worked! I think we're on our way here! The funny thing is, this will probably be fixed in the update coming up soon .
