I am trying to customize my 6700 to my tastes. I have downloaded some skins/themes from various places, but mainly Juni's site.
Most of Juni's packs come with skins for WA2, PB and others and also have a theme. I really like some of the packs on that site.
But when I install these on my phone, I select the theme through the Today setting and all I get is the default Windows screen. This seems to happen with quite a few.
Any idea of what is up?
(The skins for the apps seem to work just fine, but not the themes.)
I'm using Juni's skins and themes, so I would assume they are good quality.
How about this: Go to www.junithemes.com. Download the ClarityV2 skin. In that there is a ClarityV2.tsk file. Copy that to your 6700 and tell me what you get. I get the generic Windows default screen.
Anybody have any idea why a supposedly good theme wouldn't work?
it's actually www.juniskins.com...just tried it and it works fine except for the color on the top and bottom bar...try soft resetting after you select the theme..
Would you mind trying that one, please? If it works for you and not for me, then I will do a hard reset and build the device again starting with the themes to see what makes them stop working.
Just tried the Chromium and I'm having the same issue you are...I checked it with WinCE Cab Manager and it looks like it's an Extended Theme...which means that you need SPB Pocket+...not sure how i got the clarity one to work tho
TSK files aren't really meant to be opened in CAB Manager but since a TSK file is basically a CAB file, you can just change the extension and open it up in there...

I was thinking the same thing! But it looks pretty cool. If you want to make your own CAB files. Does the one you are mentioning allow you to make them, or just open and pull stuff out?
For what I want, opening and pulling out should be just fine...
well, sort of. CabInstl is only for the PPC. So I have to put everything there to pull it apart. That can be a pain. I'm going to play with WinCE CAB Manager a bit to see how much I use it. With the trial you get 15 uses (open/close count I presume).
I think I can pull out the stuff I want from the Chromium extended theme and create a normal theme and go from there.

No, I don't think CabInstl will make cab files, only views and extracts from them. The standard way to make PocketPC cab's is with the cabwiz.exe that is part of the SDK, but if the cab/tsk file you want to build only contains image files and not installation information, you might be able to use one of the many zip utilities available for your Windows desktop to build the cab, then transfer it to your PPC via the ActiveSync connection.
IZArc is the one I use, it supports making cab files and it's free, but I don't know if those cab files can be renamed to tsk and give you what you need. It might be worth a try, though.

Update: I downloaded the chromium.zip file you referenced above to my Windows desktop, extracted the chromium.tsk file, renamed it to chromium cab and opened it successfully with IZARC. I didn't try to change the contents, but it looks like it might work, as long as there nothing in the contents specific to PPC setup.
