Sprint has lied too much about the 6700

The Sprint reps have told a lot of us a lot of bad information:

1. You can keep your old free vision with no problems or charges.

2. The 6700 can receive:
a) Picture mail
b) Sirius (free from sprint, not the 3rd party kind)
c) Sprint TV

I was told all of this before I purchased my 6700 and the plan I changed to from a Grandfathered 85 a month for 2000 minutes and free vision.

I propose we petition Sprint and the Better Business Bureau to do something about this.

I like the phone, but the company has got to stop lying to its customers.

not much you can do about it. unless they commercially advertised those functions, which they didnt, you are just dealing with uninformed or idiotic CSRs.

now if they HAD advertised those features you may have a foot to stand on.

other then that, my advice is to do some research on a 600 dollar device before making the plunge.

I just spoke to a Sprint rep on the phone a half hour ago and he assured me several times that Sprint TV works on the PPC 6700. I told him that I had heard otherwise and he told me that I was wrong. He also promised me Sirius radio and picture mail. Didn't know you couldn't get those either.

And it wasn't just a bullet point. This guy went into extensive detail about all of the tv channels I would be able to watch. I didn't even ask about watching tv on the phone.

I was never told any of those things from Sprint. To my knowledge, the 6700 web page has never claimed the ability to do Sprint TV, Picture Mail, or Sirius.

I kept my previous Vision plan, but I was among the first group of people to swap onto this phone and Sprint hadn't yet gotten their act together on their Power Vision plans.

Most Sprint reps have absolutely no idea what the PPC6700 can or cannot do.

My experience with Sprint and Verizon reps thus far is that they're about as informed and reputable as car salesmen.

I have found that the CRS for sprint are completely unknowlegable (sp) on this phone, but there is a help desk in Dallas that is supposed to specialize in the 6700. Even they aren't that great but at least they know what phone your talking about. The best place to get help is right here and on ppc6700users.com. Between the two forums, you can get the help you need.

Those reps have no knowledge about the phone. Here is the logic of those unknowledgable reps:

1. 6700 is an EVDO phone/pda
2. 6700 requires an EVDO plan according to the computer
3. All EVDO plans stipulates Sprint TV, Sirius, etc as features of the plan
4. Therefore, 6700 with EVDO plan gives you all those

Get it?

Has anyone ever been to BestBuy or CompUSA and start asking about the features on a computer? Next thing you know, the guy starts reading the specs off the tag or the computer box. If you are lucky enough, the guy will actually pick up the wrong tag or box and just keep reading it off to you.

Here is the bottom line:

Sprint reps are ridiculously uninformed and you should not trust anything that comes out of their mouths. With that said, you need to do some in-depth research before dropping a couple hundred on a phone (and in my book, asking a Sprint rep for a quick and dirty yes/no answer doesn't qualify as that).

Please read the thread. The original poster is not happy because he was told things like Sprint TV are compatible with the 6700 when they are not so clearly there is no way for you to get Sprint TV onto the 6700.
